An event involving Ludwig Kaiser has reportedly been cancelled following news of the WWE star’s recent arrest.
Ludwig Kaiser, currently portraying the El Grande Americano character, had been scheduled to appear at a special serenade event in Mexico City this week as part of a collaboration between Kings League México and AAA. However, the official AAA Lucha Libre Instagram account confirmed on Thursday that the event would no longer take place.
“The ‘Serenata for El Grande Americano’ event scheduled for tonight in Mexico City has been canceled,” the statement read. “We appreciate your understanding.”
Ludwig Kaiser Arrested On Battery Charges
The cancellation comes shortly after Ludwig Kaiser, whose real name is Marcel Barthel, was arrested in Orange County, Florida, on May 20. The arrest reportedly stemmed from an alleged altercation at the Lake Eola Hotel in Orlando on April 23.
According to the complaint, Richard Reap alleged that he entered an elevator with Kaiser and an unidentified woman, then asked the pair to “have some manners” because of what he described as inappropriate behaviour. Reap claimed the interaction escalated into Kaiser allegedly shoving him to the ground.
Kaiser was later released after posting a $1,000 bond. Despite the arrest, Kaiser is still currently advertised for AAA Noche de Los Grandes on May 30, where he is scheduled to compete in a mask-vs-mask match against the Original El Grande Americano.
Neither WWE nor Kaiser has publicly commented on the arrest or whether it could impact the upcoming bout.
