Rey Mysterio has confirmed that he will not be competing tonight at WrestleMania due to an injury he suffered last night on Smackdown.

“I wish I could say that I am feeling great…It is unfortunate I suffered an accident yesterday at the hands of Julius Creed. It is unfortunate that I am not medically cleared to compete tonight,” he told Jackie Redmond.

Mysterio then announced who would be taking his place against El Grande Americano.

“There is a replacement and that is a good thing because lucha is still going to be put on the map tonight. And that replacement is, Rey Fenix,” he said.

Fenix then stood beside Mysterio.

Mysterio also commented on the announcement that WWE has bought the AAA promotion.

“I actually got choked up because if you think about a 14-year-old Rey Mysterio, a skinny little kid, that had so many obstacles ahead of him. Nobody believed I was a wrestler. I had to push my way through,” he said. “It goes full circle. Now, WWE and AAA are one….This is such a beautiful time for lucha libre and wrestling.”
