Former WWE star Enzo Amore has reportedly signed a new contract with the company, potentially paving the way for his return after nearly nine years away.
According to PWInsider and F4WOnline.com, people backstage at WWE believe Enzo Amore reached an agreement with the company within the past week. The report also suggests the former Cruiserweight Champion could head to WWE NXT, although his return has not been officially confirmed.
Speculation about Amore’s future has intensified in recent weeks, particularly after reports that WWE considered bringing him back alongside the ongoing push for his former tag team partner, Big Cass.
In October, WrestleVotes reported that WWE’s creative team felt audiences were anticipating Amore’s return, which reportedly complicated the company’s plans for Cass. However, WWE may have different plans for the two performers should Amore return.
WWE Reportedly Planning To Keep Enzo Amore And Big Cass Apart
Dave Meltzer previously reported that Enzo Amore’s move to NXT was close to being finalised, though WWE reportedly considered keeping him separate from Big Cass.
“There was talk of Enzo in NXT. It was talked to me like it was pretty much a done deal, but they were gonna keep Enzo and Cass apart because of the idea that if they put them together, Cass’s upside is very limited in that tag team based on how WWE does tag teams,” Meltzer explained.
Amore and Cass previously formed a popular tag team in WWE, initially establishing themselves in NXT before moving to the main roster. Despite their popularity, the partnership eventually ended, and both wrestlers later left the company.
Amore was released from WWE in January 2018 after allegations of sexual assault emerged against him, which he denied. Police closed the investigation later that year due to insufficient evidence.
Following his departure, Amore continued his wrestling career on the independent circuit, competing under the names nZo and Real1. He has also made appearances for promotions including TNA Wrestling and Major League Wrestling.
Amore’s relationship with WWE was further complicated in November 2018 when he attended Survivor Series at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. During the event, he stood on his seat and caused a disruption before security removed him from the arena. He was subsequently banned from attending future events at the venue.
Despite those circumstances, recent reports suggest WWE may be preparing to welcome Amore back to the company. A move to NXT would mark his return to the brand where he first established himself as a prominent personality alongside Cass.
For now, however, WWE has made no official announcement regarding Enzo Amore’s reported signing, and neither a return date nor his potential role has been confirmed.
