Last night, Paige challenged Kelani Jordan for the NXT Women’s Championship on a stacked card against AEW’s Blood and Guts show.
According to Paige though, she wasn’t the first choice. On Busted Open Radio she said: “I got called last minute. It wasn’t actually supposed to be me. Triple H pulled me aside in Brooklyn at the double taping and said, ‘Do you mind going down to NXT?’ I was like, ‘Oh s–t. Yeah, definitely.’
Paige is glad the match went off well on because she was dropped in at the last minute.
“It didn’t give me much time to prepare. Maybe if I prepared a little bit more, I would’ve won. It is what it is. I know what to do next time if I get a little bit of time,” she said.
When asked who was supposed to take on Jordan, Paige said she didn’t know who the original opponent was.
In the match itself, Paige put up her knees as Jordan attempted her split-legged moonsault. Jordan blocked Ram-Paige with a roll-up. She pinned Paige.
Paige was the first woman to ever win the title. She had to give up the NXT Championship when she won the Divas Championship. She never lost it.
