Thom Latimer has been the standard bearer of the National Wrestling Alliance and, since NWA 76, a proud bearer of the Ten Pounds of Gold. He has faced off against many challengers, but now he has to contend with Aron Stevens’s mind games. He has an ace up his sleeve, and on this night, Latimer will face him or either member of his tag team, Blunt Force Trauma.

Who will step up to the plate against The King of All Evil?

We will find out this final moment from the NWA Shockwave signature event later tonight, as we come to you from the OC Theatre in Forney, TX. Joe Galli, Billy Corgan, and Danny Dealz have the call, and your First Match of the Night is…

Hunter (with Kylie Paige) vs. Natalia Marko(with Bryan Idol)

Galli lets us know that the stipulation for this intergender match is if Markova loses she can never challenge for the Burke again, Thus, it is do-or-die for the Russian Crush to overcome Kylie’s boy toy (who, for whatever reason, is not called “Hunter Drake” anymore.)

But I digress.

Kylie cheers on Hunter as he is getting beat down by Markova, and that makes him decide to take a powder as he confabs with Kylie on the outside.  He runs into and tries to pick a fight with Idol, who has his arm in a sling after the events of The Looks That Kill and he slips back in to face Markova.  She attempts and misses the Beautiful Disaster Kick in the corner but gets a running neckbreaker on Hunter for a two count.  She gets distracted by Kylie as she hurts Idol on the outside, and Hunter uses the opportunity to go for a rollup for a count of two.  Hunter cheap shots Markova and works her knee.  She tries to fire back but Hunter is there to knock Markova back down and he nails a shooting star press for another two count.  He goes for a Figure Four (poorly) but Markova kicks him in the mush and she proceeds to light up his chest with chops.  She gives Hunter a high knee for a near fall, and as she sets up to finish him off, Hunter nails a spin kick and covers for a near fall.  Hunter gets overconfident and takes his eyes off the ball to make eyes with Kylie and that is when Markova delivers the Beautiful Disaster and secures victory.

Your Winner via Pinfall:  Natalia Markova

There is a recap of the Dane Memorial Tournament, and the men currently moving forward in the quarter-finals are:  Kerry Morton, Frank, Burchill, and Colby Corino.  Who will claim victory at the end is anybody’s guess.

Plus we get a review of what’s happening Around the Territories of the NWA, but take a look here to see what’s coming to your area…

NWA owner William Patrick Corgan comes out and he and Kyle Davis start off on a somber tone to honor the memory of the late Jax Dane. Corgan is at a loss for words and spoke on the love that Dane had for the NWA and the fans, so I’ll let him take over from here:

“Personally, I worked with Jax for a long period of time, since I bought the National Wrestling Alliance. He was involved with everything we did since I took over this company, and let me tell you something that Jax did that’s very interesting in my life, particularly in the world of professional wrestling.

Every time we were together and he went home the next day, in the morning I’d receive an email and [it would] just say ‘thank you.’ That is something I will always carry in my heart because that was his way of showing me respect. But it also told him [that] I understand what you’re trying to do here with the National Wrestling Alliance, and we had many conversations about that because the era that he came from in the National Wrestling Alliance was certainly something to be proud of. But when he saw where this company was going now, that’s where his heart went and he used to tell me, ‘I’m a Billy Corrigan guy.’

You want to talk about a tribute? That’s a tribute.

And I’d love to talk to you all night about this wonderful person, but I think this is the best tribute before we do our traditional Ten Bell salute which is, of course, the greatest honor that we can give any professional wrestler who’s been in the squared circle. So please indulge me, just listen to this list:

The Lone Star Heavyweight Champion, the North American Heavyweight Champion, the NWA National Heavyweight Champion, the NWA World Tag Team Champion, and NWA World Heavyweight champion, a father, a husband, and a friend to all.”

At that, the bell rang ten times as those in attendance paid tribute to The Dane Event.  Corgan is misty-eyed as is Davis as fans chant, “Thank you, Jax.”

But the show must go on as your next match is for the…

NWA Exodus Midwest Heavyweight Championship: Pretty Boy Smooth(c)(with EC3) vs. Baron Von Storm

It’s been a while since Smooth graced us with his presence at the Back to the Territories signature event, as EC3 enters first with his Exodus minions to escort Smooth to the ring.  Storm comes out and is wearing a Jax Dane T-shirt under his robe.  As he stands in the center of the ring, he is teary-eyed and raises his palm with the word “Jax” written on his Iron Claw.

The Bell rings and both men stare each other down.  They are evenly matched power for power until one of the Exodus minions tries to distract Storm.  A slam by Smooth allow him to go for a leg drop and he misses the mark.  Storm comes back and tries to lock on the Iron Claw until the acolytes pull Smooth away and the ref calls it.  So…

Your Winner via Disqualification:  Baron Von Storm

The Exodus minions swarm the ring ready to attack Storom until Bam Bam Malone of NWA Texas/Texas Style Wrestling fame comes in for the save.   EC3 is incensed and then unmasks one of his  Exodus Pro member, Brandon Baretta.  It’s at that point Davis gets on the mic and announces that we will now have a tag team match between…

Pretty Boy Smooth and Brandon Baretta (with EC3 and Exodus Pro Minions) vs. Bam Bam Malone and Baron Von Storm

Malone takes it to the minions with a plancha and chops away at Baretta.  Once the dust settles in the ring, Smooth takes over and tosses Malone around like a rag doll, and he and Baretta place the man who preaches Gold, Girls, and Glory in Peril.  He manages to escape and gets the hot tag to Storm and the Baron is En Fuego.  Storm pops the trunk one final time with a Dane Event to Baretta in honor of Jax Dane and attempts to clinch in Trap City.  Smooth breaks the hold as Malone sends the big man out of the ring.  Storm locks in the Iron Claw on Baretta and forces his shoulders to the mat which grants him the pin and the win.

Your Winner via Pinfall:  Baron Von Storm and Bam Bam Malone

Storm is weeping while still clenching Baretta’s head in his Clam until Malone pulls him off and hands him the globe to calm him down.

Earlier, Aron Stevens cuts a promo with Blunt Force Trauma on what a night Thom Latimer is in for. He claims this is the last night he will hold the Ten Pounds of Gold, and Stevens promises Latimer will find out who he will face when the time is right.

So let’s head to ringside and as all men are at the squared circle, that’s when Stevens springs it on Latimer that the Main Event will be for the

NWA World Heavyweight Championship:  Thom Latimer (c) vs. Carnage

So as one-half of Blunt Force Trauma enters the ring, the ref ejects Damage because he does not have a managerial license to be at ringside, unlike Stevens.

The bell rings and Latimer and Carnage circle each other until the masked man unloads on offense, and tosses the champ out of the ring the hard way to the floor.  He continues to pound away at Latimer, targeting his lower back.  Back in the ring Carnage slams him in the center of the ring and follows with a knee drop for a two count.  Latimer digs deep and starts to mount a comeback until Stevens trips him up.  He attempts a suplex but Carnage reverses it and gets a clothesline for another count of two.  He straddles his neck on the middle ropes and as the ref gets Carnage to back off, Stevens lays in a cheap shot.  He loads up the white glove and gets in another jab when the ref’s back is turned. Then…

Ads (Sigh!)

We come back and Latimer is in trouble as Carnage gives him the Blunt Force Trauma his team is known for.  He rushes at the champ, who catches the masked man with a back elbow.  Latimer follows with an atomic drop and then a DDT.  He continues the offense with a running back elbow to a stunner.  He climbs to the middle ropes and as Latimer comes down Carnage connects with a thrust kick followed by a spear.  Carnage tosses Latimer to cause more…err, carnage, and then gets the champ back in the ring to cover for a close two count.  He sets him in the center of the ring and Carnage goes to the top turnbuckle for a swanton and there’s no pool in the water (to quote Joe Galli) and Latimer goes for a sunset flip for another two count.  He follows with a spear and Latimer’s left shoulder feels the damage (pardon the pun) of Carnage’s earlier offense.  They go back and forth with punches, and Carnage nails a dropkick that sends the champ over the top rope to the outside.  Stevens tries to direct traffic, and Carnage pushes in to get a pin in one, two…nope.  Stevens attempts to interject and that’s when Latimer sends Carnage headfirst into his manager and a pop-up powerbomb wins it in one, two, and three.

Your Winner, and Still NWA World Heavyweight Champion:  Thom Latimer

After the match, Stevens and Carnage head to the back like scalded dogs as Latimer holds the Ten Pounds of Gold in triumph as the show fades to black.

NWA Powerrr - 04/15/2025
3.5

Final Thoughts:

The 1/2 star is because of the tribute that Corgan/Davis gave to Jax Dane, as well as Storm’s performance in the ring honoring his friend and rival.  Overall, it was a good event and I did enjoy the intergender match with Hunter/Markova.  I was hoping for more shenanigans from Stevens in the Latimer/Carnage match, but maybe that will be a running angle for the next signature event.

Either way, see ya next Tuesday for the next NWA Powerrr.
