After The Looks That Kill signature event, the National Wrestling Alliance heads into the newly christened Dane Memorial Tournament, named after the late Jax Dane. This is to see who will become the next contender to face Thom Latimer for the Ten Pounds of Gold.

Until then, Aron Stevens tells us of a deal he negotiated for himself.  But let’s give him a moment to talk:

“I would like, if I may, to take you on a very interesting journey. It’s true that I recently signed the most lucrative contract in the history of the National Wrestling Alliance. And it is also true that in said negotiation, William Patrick Corgan, being the genius, that he is, offered me an opportunity.

An opportunity that, through much-spirited discussion, has led to me receiving a title shot anywhere, anyone, any place, time, anything you can imagine, of my choosing. So now William Patrick Corgan has placed me at the foot of the ladder of success and how I choose to climb it is on me. I can take a world title shot for myself. People think I’m retired, but I’m rewired.

I could negotiate to the highest bidder.  That always seems to work, or I can make history right.

The most devastating, the absolute top of the sport of professional wrestling today, Blunt Force Trauma; the uncrowned World Tag Team Champions. I can do anything I want with it, and I am the honest man, as you say.

So tonight, I will, in fact, reveal what we’re going to do with this said opportunity for when the ccock crows, the world knows. So we’re just waiting on it.”

Bold words to start the show, as is a bold new intro and music, which sounds suspiciously like the Bloodbath rave scene from the movie Blade, and I cannot unhear it.

As to who will advance in the tournament we will discover later in the show as we come to you from the OC Theatre in Forney, TX. Joe Galli p, Billy Corgan, and Danny Dealz have the call, and your First Match of the Night is a…

Dane Memorial Heavyweight Tournament Match: Colby Corino vs. Sam Adonis

This is to determine the number eight seed in the tournament and who will face the number one seeded “Thrillbilly” Silas Mason.  Also, been a while since Adonis graced us with his presence.  The last time was when he challenged EC3 at The Crockett Cup last year.

As for the present, It’s the Prince of Old School versus El Rudo De Las Chicas and they kick off with some great chain wrestling and they are evenly matched.  Adonis offers a handshake of respect that Corino accepts, and then he pulls his wrist and lands a Samoan drop followed by Sonsetter for a two count.  Adonis is in the corner and Corino rushes at him, but he sends him over the top rope.  Corino lands on the apron edge and clocks him with an elbow.  Then Corino climbs up the top turnbuckle and Adonis brings him down hard with an avalanche arm drag, followed by a chinlock as Corino tries to power through, but El Rudo reapplies the hold.

Adonis endears himself to the Texas fans as he does in Mexico as he gives a strut that would make Jackie Fargo blush, and Corino nails him with a springboard cutter and starts to fire up.  They go back and forth and Corino connects with a rising knee strike.  Adonis is in the corner and again Corino rushes at him.  He evades but Corino course corrects into a tornado DDT to cover for a near fall.  He then gets Adonis in a double underhook which gets countered with a short clothesline to cover Corino for a count of two.  He chops his chest and whips Corino to the corner, and before he can finish him off, The Prince manages to deliver the El Driver and he advances in the tournament.

Your Winner via Pinfall:  Colby Corino

That seeding now means he has a date with Big Daddy Thrill coming up, and given his animosity with The Southern Six he has a tall order ahead of him.

We get a vignette and see Kylie Paige in a pool rehabbing her bad wing with her dad, Tommy Henry, coaching her. As she gets out and towels off (after some verbal prompting and Hunter Drake handing it to her with some…interesting glances), Papa Tommy lets her know that she needs to get better to help her sister.  Kylie assures her dad that Kenzie she’s got this in the bag and there’s nothing to worry about.

Speaking of, next is a title bout for the…

NWA Women’s World Tag Team Match: Big Mama and Kenzie Paige(c) vs. CJ and Mystii Marks

It’s double belts between Paige, who holds the NWA Women’s title, and Mama with the NWA Women’s Television title.  Also of note is this is the first time in a while that we’re seeing CJ back in an NWA ring.

Mama and CJ start and she shows off her power to the Brazilian Wonder Woman.  She quickly tags in Marks and it’s more of the same.  She tags in Paige and she lays in the chops to Marks.  She runs the ropes and Marks counters with a flapjack and then an axe kick for a two count.  She whips the champ to her corner and she and CJ take turns putting the hurt on Paige.  Mama tags back in after a missed moonsault by CJ and the beatings continue.  She and Paige make CJ a Brazilian in Peril, even mocking a tag to her partner.  CJ manages to nail her with a desperation moonsault followed by a knee strike.  She reverts back to her magician’s apprentice gimmick for a second to give the presentation until Mama drops her with a clothesline to the back.  She goes for a leg drop that misses, and CJ manages the hot tag to Marks and she is En Fuego, Mystically.  It’s pandemonium in the ring as all four women battle it out until Mama flattens CJ with a Sky-High Bomb, and Marks gives a codebreaker.  It doesn’t matter as Paige delivers the Kenzie cutter for the pin and the win.

Your Winners via Pinfall, and Still NWA Women’s Tag Team Champions:  Big Mama and Kenzie Paige

There is another vignette as we go to a bar with “Thrillbilly” Silas Mason, Ricky Morton, and Alex Taylor shooting pool.  A woman wants to offer a drink to Big Daddy Thrill and all wants is a healthy drink.  You know…a beer.  After a beat, they discuss the Dane Memorial Tournament as Kerry Morton will face Wrecking Ball Legursky. Ricky talks up his son and how he’s gonna get past the Fixer.  Mason then claims he’ll be the one to take it all in the tournament and gets a little fresh with The Rock and Roller Morton.  That adds to the tension until Taylor plays peacekeeper and reminds them all that they are Southern Six members. Mason agrees and is confident he’ll remain on top as the biggest man that ever lived.

Hmm.  Methinks there may be some trouble under the Southern sky.

But we’ll address that another time as it is time for the Main Event, and it is another…

Dane Memorial Heavyweight Tournament Match: Kerry Morton (3) vs. Wrecking Ball Legursky (6)

As the intros took place Corgan acknowledged the passing of Jax Dane, whom the tournament is named.

As the bell rings, they lock up and soon Morton learns Legursky is an immovable object.  The Rizz God throws everything at Legursky’s way to no avail.  He gets Morton in a goozle but he escapes and runs right into the Wrecking Ball, only to get knocked down by his sheer size as he covers.  Morton kicks out for a series of near falls as Legursky is immovable during this moment of the match.  At one point Morton is between the ropes as Lergursky punches at him and he swings like a bobbing drink bird before collapsing.  He picks up Morton in a military press and The Rizz God goes down, and he follows with a Splash and then belly flops.  Legursky heads out and Morton sets up for another big move which leads to…

Ads (I got a feeling someone is doing this to spite me).

We come back as Morton goes for a springboard to the floor.  He gets caught by Legursky but Morton wriggles out of his grasp and shoves him into the ring post.  He gets the big man in and Morton climbs up top and nails a crossbody to cover and gets a two count as Legursky sends him across the ring.  He comes back with a short DDT and gets another pin attempt but Legursky bounces back.  He gives The Southern Six member a series of shoulder tackles to make the Kansas City Chiefs offensive line blush, followed by a corner splash.  As the ref checks on Morton, Legursky stalks him but gets a low blow for his troubles.  Stunned, Morton uses the opportunity to deliver the Kiss It Goodbye and covers for a two count.  Frustrated, he measures the mark and nails another, and that seals the deal for one, two, and three.

Your Winner, and Advancing in The Dane Memorial Tournament:  Kerry Morton

Morton now awaits who he will face between Max the Impaler or Tyler Franks in his bracket.

As the show draws to a close, we get Aron Stevens again with another promo, and it also features images of his Blunt Force Trauma team, but curiously Eric Smalls.  You should watch for yourself, but this is what Stevens had to say:

“Thom Latimer is the NWA World Heavyweight Champion. He carries the banner of an over 75-year tradition of excellence.  The hallmark of greatness wrapped firmly around his waist, and the pressures of this coveted responsibility weighing heavily on his shoulders.

Well, I am about to light the lamp of truth that will illuminate and expose who Thom Latimer truly is. Thom, does the adulation of all the people make this mode any lighter?  Can the safety of the spotlight’s warm glow protect you from your biggest adversary? Do you even know who your biggest adversary is?

But the answer is no.  I know this because, Thom, you are a broken man. It is said that a man can starve from lack of self-realization as much as he can from lack of bread. This is the NWA World champion’s biggest battle, and always has been, champ. I’ve known you for a very long time, and I have watched you battle with your demons day after day, year after year. I have watched you fall into the bowels of nothingness, only to rise and reach the pinnacle of our sport. While many can and do revere you for this, Thom, I see it for what it truly is; a multi-layered facade to mask your own fear, your pain, and above all, the truth.

Many will perceive my words as a threat, but many just like you, Thom, foolishly hold on to the mere illusion of security and cling to a safety blanket made of thorns and razor wire. But these thorns and razors don’t prune the body. No, no, they scar the soul, terrorize the mind, and eat away at the man until he stares into the mirror, finding an unrecognizable reflection.

I am going to shatter that mirror for you one way or another.  What you see when you look at yourself, what you think of, when you think of who you are, will all go away very, very soon. That, I can assure you. The truth is, Thom, this is something that goes far deeper than this particular version of you is capable of realizing it is also true that what is coming is going to put who you are on a pedestal for the entire world to see; the good, the bad and the tragically horrible.

I am but a mere instrument of purification, and you are next in line to be cleansed. How about your family’s reputation? What are people gonna think when they think of the name Thom Latimer?  I assure you my benevolence and passion for helping others is far greater. That is why none of what I am speaking could ever be constituted as a threat. It is simply letting you know what is coming.

Thom, a heads up between two men that used to call themselves friends in what seems a very, very long time ago.  But don’t worry, Thom. What’s coming may sting a little.  Most likely it’ll hurt a lot, but it will do what is necessary. It will do what is right. There’s no, no way you’ll be the same again. Enjoy your self-created character. Enjoy the character that you play into the world because soon…that character will be laid to rest and forgotten in time.”

NWA Powerrr - 03/11/2025

Final Thoughts:

I like how Stevens bookended the beginning and end with his stellar promo work, and this does make me interested in him facing Latimer down the line for the Ten Pounds of Gold.  Corino/Adonis and Morton/Legursky were also good in the tournament, and Mama/Paige brought the violence.

Somewhere, Jax Dane is smiling.

Until then, see ya next Tuesday!
