In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Dark Side of the Ring announced that it is returning on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
It will be the sixth season for the show on VICE.
Though no topics have been officially announced, through the last few months SlamWrestling.net has been collecting clues through various contacts and believe these to be some of the subjects:
Superstar Billy Graham — The late WWWF champion had all kinds of medical issues that he blamed on steroid use. He died in May 2023.
Test — The native of Ontario ended up a WWE superstar, but never quite a main eventer. He died in March 2009 of an overdose.
Eddie Gilbert — A second-generation wrestler, Eddie followed his father, Tommy Gilbert into pro wrestling, as did his brother Doug. “Hot Stuff” Eddie had an incredible mind for the wrestling business, but was somewhat undersized for the time period and used whatever means necessary to get bigger. He died of a heart attack in Puerto Rico in February 1995. On the personal front, he was married to Missy Hyatt and then Debrah “Madusa” Miceli, though both marriages ended.
Daffney — The “Scream Queen” was a wrestler and manager through the years, but fought many demons and died in September 2021, after a very cry for help on Instagram.
Billy Jack Haynes — Current incarcerated in Oregon for the alleged murder of his wife in February 2024, Haynes was a major star for a brief period of time in the 1980s, but always rebounded back to his Pacific Northwest roots. He was a master of storytelling in person and on shoot interviews … whether anyone believed the stories or not? Who knows.
Vader — A football player turned wrestler, Leon White carved out a great reputation as one of the best big men in the history of the sport — and one of the most ornery. He died in June 2018.
Ludvig Borga — The Finish strongman Tony Halme never really made in pro wrestling in the WWF, but man did he have a physique. Before his death in January 2010, he had even been a politician.
Hell in a Cell — This is an interesting topic if it is indeed true, simply because the Dark Side people won’t have use of WWE footage beyond short fair-use clips, and many of the stars who have participated in the violent matches are either loyal to WWE or gone.
The announcement of the sixth season comes along with an exclusive story on Deadline which detailed VICE’s restructuring following bankruptcy, and a pivot to do more sports-related content, and Dark Side of the Ring as one of its flagship shows. There is a Dark Side of the Cage about mixed martial arts in progress as well.
