Things are more miserable in Father James Mitchell’s group and they look to get worse as they face the “Thrillbilly” Silas Mason and NWA US Tag Team champions The Country Gentlemen in the main event. Can this six-man tag team stop “The Sinister Minister’s” menagerie of malevolent men?
We find out later as we are at the PBS Studios in Tampa, Fl. Joe Galli, Tim Storm, and Velvet Sky have the call, and our First Match is…
Kylie Paige and PJ Hawx vs. Psycho Love (Fodder & Angelina Love)
This is not only an intergender match but also the debut match of Kenzie Paige’s younger sister in the NWA, and she seems a mite smitten with the engaged Hawx Aerie member (Seriously, PJ. Avoid wild women like that. They are trouble and rip your heart out at every turn, as I learned the hard way. But, enough about Provo, UT…)
Hawx and Fodder start and the Psycho boy is outwrestled by the young grappler. Once Paige tags in, the veteran Love overpowers her quickly and she becomes Pretty Emperiled for most of the match. Love attempts an elbow drop that misses the mark. She tries to drag her back to the center of the ring, but Paige manages to get the hot tag to PJ and once he faces Fodder he is a Hawx en Fuego. A tag back to Paige and she lands a side legsweep on Love to cover for a two count. Fodder goes to Hawx and attacks him on the outside, leaving Paige all alone as Love delivers the Botox Injection for the pin and the win.
Your Winners via Pinfall: Psycho Love
Earlier, Joe Galli had a closed-set interview with Aron Stevens and Blunt Force Trauma, and he address how things are heated with him and Rolando Freeman. But I’ll let Stevens speak for himself:
“Now see, things ain’t getting hot. You got the peas in the water and the water in the pot, and the peas wouldn’t be jumping if the water wasn’t hot.
But!
Rolando…see you’re like a pea in the water. You jump around, you think you’re cute? Brother, you ain’t nothing but a side dish and a side dish that’s gonna get eaten alive in a Titanic Tampa Bay Street Fight. Again, you have no idea what I’m capable of. Everyone thinks because I look so clean and pristine that I can’t get it done. Go to YouTube, type my name, and watch what happens. You are an insult to this industry and you are what’s wrong with this industry.
This is the most devastating, powerful tag team in the business today. Why? Because in a business of boys, we are men. Which leads me to Chicago. Big pay-per-view and the NWA doesn’t want the most devastating tag team in professional wrestling there. Why, I wonder? Are people afraid? Are people afraid, because we beat the Tag Team Champions? We pinned them right here in this ring. Everybody saw it.
You see, [gestures to Carnage] you have 285 pounds of brute force annihilation that will hit you from any angle he chooses: mat, floor, or air. What you have here [gestures to Damage] is the power of a Sherman tank, the skill set of an assassin channeled into a single beam of destruction.
So…you know, get ahead of myself here. Let’s just say that even though we’re not supposed to be in Chicago, there’s a Nathan’s Hot Dogs in O’hare and they just make the best sweet relish. So I’m gonna be there anyway and you know, I roll with my team. So who knows? At the end of the day, I will correct anything that is keeping this team from wearing the most prestigious tag titles in this industry today; the NWA Tag Team Championship because whoever gets in the ring with us, whoever gets in our way, if we go to the building and someone stops us…they are going to know pain. They are going to know suffering. They are going to know humility and they are going to experience–they are going to know courtesy of Blunt Force Trauma. Now get that mic out of my face.”
Stevens is perfect when he gets on the mic and cuts a promo like this. This might very well be the sleeper event of NWA 312 with him and Rolando Freeman.
May Valentine is backstage NWA legends with Ricky Morton and Bobby Fulton. Fulton and Morton reminisce about working under Nick Gulas back in the day and sharing the road and bologna sandwiches between towns and paying their dues in the ring. There was a rivalry but a kindred spirit between The Rock and Roll Express and The Fantastics. That leads to The Fixers, who Fulton says has been disrespecting him and the NWA, especially recently.
Morton says The Fixers are creating stormy weather and they have ways of weathering the storm.
But let’s head back to the ring for the next match between…
“Stark County Ripper” Shepard Lutz vs. “The Dane Event” Jax Dane
Galli mentions that due to recent actions by Chris Silvio, Esquire, he is suspended from ringside. Dane appears to be in a mood and takes out his frustration on Lutz with a belly-to-belly suplex to send him out of the ring. The ref starts the ten count, and Lutz makes it back in time to attempt a sunset flip, but he cannot contend with Dane’s power. This is a one-sided affair but Lutz fires back with back elbow splashes and a springboard back elbow that knocks the big man down. Lutz focuses on dropkicks to Dane’s knees and he nails a DDT to cover for a two count. Lutz has momentum on his side as he sends Dane to the corner and attempts a splash, but the SVG catches him and nails a Samoan Drop. The fuzzy vest comes off and he “pops the trunk” with the Dane Event clothesline and he crosses his arms in defiance as he gets the three count.
Your Winner via Pinfall: Jax Dane
We get a recap of the semifinal match with Taya Valkyrie and Max the Impaler but it’d be cooler if you read the (abbreviated) recap here.
It’s not time for six-man tag team action in the Main Event between…
The Miserably Faithful (Sal the Pal, Judais, and Gaagz the Gymp, with Father James Mitchell) vs. “Thrillbilly Silas Mason” (with Pollo Del Mar) and The Country Gentlemen (AJ Cazana & Anthony Edwards)
Sal is nowhere to be found during the ring entrances, which is odd since he stays close to the side of Mitchell and company. It appears there is more fallout from the Hair versus Mask match a few weeks ago. Since The Miserably Faithful are a man short, Mason opts out to make this a traditional tag team match. Mason and Del Mar make themselves at home in the front row, as he gets chewing tobacco and creates a quick sign that says in big letters “Country Gents,” even though the “o” is a little small and hard to read.
(Take a moment and read that again. Yep, that happened kids.)
Any-whosles, Cazana and Gaagz start out and he and his cousin Andrews work over the Gymp and press slam him into his corner. A tag to Judais and The Country Gentlemen try to knock the big man down, but he stands his ground. Andrews is isolated and Judais shoves him to the ring post on the outside before going on offense inside the ring to make the Thoroughbred a Gentleman in Peril. At one point, Judais grabs Gymp in a headlock and rams him horns first to Andrews’ midsection. The Gymp takes over but Andrews counters with a chokeslam, but Judais clotheslines the Thoroughbred from the outside. Andrews crawls and gets the hot tag to Cazana, and is a Legacy en Fuego. The end comes as the NWA US Tag champs shoulder tackle Judais out of the ring, and then they deliver a Doomsday Device to Gymp for the one, two, and three.
Your Winners via Pinfall: The Country Gentlemen
Mason and Del Mar come out of their ringside seats and celebrates in the ring with the Gentlemen, as the Miserably Faithful are showing more signs of fracturing in the ranks as the show goes to the credits
NWA USA - 03/25/2023
Final Thoughts
The Country Gentlemen are looking good in tag team action, and the angle with The Miserably Faithful has some legs as well. Psycho Love is the intergender team to beat, and I would love to see what else they have in store.
We’re almost a couple of weeks away from the NWA 312 PPV, so we’ll see ya next Saturday!
