AEW presented its special Fright Night edition of Dynamite on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, from the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Missouri.
Last night’s show featured two championship matches, the third encounter in the Best of Five Series between FTR and the Motor City Machine Guns, and further developments ahead of AEW Full Gear on November 14.
In the night’s biggest development, Queen Aminata defeated Persephone to capture the AEW TBS Championship, while Darby Allin successfully defended the TNT Championship against Josh Alexander.
Elsewhere, The Cut defeated The Death Riders, Kyle Fletcher challenged AEW World Champion Will Ospreay, and tensions continued to escalate between several factions.
Jay White And David Finlay vs. Jon Moxley And Daniel Garcia
The show opened with tag team action as Jon Moxley and Daniel Garcia represented The Death Riders against Jay White and David Finlay of The Cut. Both teams exchanged control throughout the contest, with Garcia and Moxley combining to deliver a series of strikes and double-team manoeuvres.
Moxley applied several submission holds to Finlay, including a Fujiwara armbar and a triangle choke, before White intervened. In the closing moments, Ace Austin emerged from the crowd to distract the referee. Wheeler Yuta attempted to neutralise the interference by striking Austin with a Busaiku Knee.
However, Clark Connors capitalised on the distraction and speared Garcia, allowing White to connect with the Blade Runner and secure the pinfall victory. Following the match, members of both factions rushed to ringside and a brawl erupted.
Claudio Castagnoli delivered a Giant Swing to Connors before The Cut retreated. Moxley subsequently challenged The Cut to an Anarchy In The Arena Match against The Death Riders at Full Gear on November 14.
Winners: Jay White And David Finlay
Kyle Fletcher vs. Jack Perry
Kyle Fletcher, accompanied by Don Callis, faced Jack Perry in the second match of the evening.
The contest began with both wrestlers exchanging playful interactions with the commentary team before the action quickly intensified. Perry gained an early advantage with a shotgun dropkick and several attacks around ringside, including a missile dropkick from the barricade.
Fletcher responded with a series of powerful strikes and suplexes, eventually catching Perry with a powerbomb onto the ring apron. Perry fought back with a hurricanrana from the ropes, a moonsault and a reverse hurricanrana before applying the Snare Trap submission.
Fletcher reached the ropes and survived another offensive sequence from Perry. In the closing stages, Fletcher caught Perry with a thrust kick before delivering a devastating Brainbuster from the top rope, sending Perry crashing into the middle rope.
The move was enough to secure the victory. Afterwards, Fletcher celebrated alongside Mark Davis and Jake Doyle.
Fletcher reminded fans that he had previously defeated Adam Copeland and Will Ospreay at Full Gear, before challenging Ospreay to defend the AEW World Championship against him at this year’s event.
Winner: Kyle Fletcher
New Level Confronted By Hangman Page And Brody King
Renee Paquette welcomed New Level’s Kofi and Austin Creed to the ring to discuss their upcoming AEW World Trios Championship match at Full Gear. Creed addressed Swerve Strickland’s demand for the championship contest to become a Texas Death Match.
Kofi expressed concerns about the dangerous stipulation, explaining that he wanted to return home to his children. Creed also questioned whether the rivalry had become personal enough to justify such a match.
Brody King interrupted the discussion, prompting Hangman Adam Page to emerge and attempt to calm the situation. Page explained that his previous rivalry with Strickland had taken a significant toll on him and warned King against agreeing to the stipulation.
Prince Nana then appeared on the entrance ramp and directed everyone’s attention to the screen. Footage showed Strickland standing over a bloodied Bandido while holding his mask.
Strickland demanded that the Full Gear championship match be contested under Texas Death Match rules. King reacted angrily to the footage, although Page managed to restrain him.
Best Of Five Series Match 3: Motor City Machine Guns vs. FTR
The Motor City Machine Guns faced FTR in the third match of their Best of Five Series.
Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin initially controlled the action through their teamwork, but Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood gradually fought their way back into the contest. FTR delivered a superplex and Frog Splash, while the Motor City Machine Guns responded with several double-team manoeuvres.
In one particularly notable exchange, Shelley and Sabin countered FTR’s attempted Shatter Machine before delivering the move themselves. The Motor City Machine Guns followed with Skull and Bones, but FTR survived.
The finish came when Harwood tried to roll up Shelley, but Shelley reversed the pinning combination and secured the three-count. After the match, Shelley and Sabin offered their opponents a handshake.
FTR initially accepted, but Stokely threw powder into Shelley’s eyes. Harwood then applied a Figure Four Leg Lock while Wheeler prevented Sabin from intervening.
Winners: Motor City Machine Guns
Tommaso Ciampa Confronted By Ilja Dragunov
Tommaso Ciampa appeared in the ring and declared himself the next AEW National Champion.
Ciampa accused Andrade El Idolo of cheating during their championship match at WrestleDream, claiming that this justified his attack on Andrade the previous week. He also discussed his upcoming match against Matt Sydal on Saturday’s AEW Collision.
However, Ilja Dragunov interrupted Ciampa and challenged his claims about being AEW’s biggest signing. Dragunov suggested they settle their differences immediately, but Ciampa refused to compete that night.
Marina Shafir vs. Rachel Armstrong
Marina Shafir made short work of Rachel Armstrong in a dominant singles performance.
Shafir immediately overwhelmed Armstrong with a knee strike before taking her to the mat. She subsequently applied the Mother’s Milk submission, forcing Armstrong to tap out.
Following the victory, Shafir called out Mercedes Moné. Moné confronted Shafir in the ring and delivered several open-palm strikes, although Shafir remained standing and backed her opponent into the corner.
Meanwhile, the conflict between The Cut and The Death Riders erupted once again. Clark Connors attacked Moxley at the commentary desk, triggering another widespread brawl involving members of both factions.
The Cut eventually gained the advantage, with Finlay striking Castagnoli with his shillelagh. White then delivered a Blade Runner to Castagnoli on the exposed concrete outside the ring.
Winner: Marina Shafir
AEW TNT Title Match: Darby Allin (c) vs. Josh Alexander
Darby Allin defended the AEW TNT Championship against Josh Alexander, who was accompanied by Don Callis. Alexander dominated portions of the early action, attacking Allin’s leg and delivering a German suplex on the ring apron.
Allin responded with his trademark high-risk offence, including a dive through the ropes and a Scorpion Death Lock. Alexander escaped the submission and continued targeting Allin’s ankle.
The action became increasingly dangerous when Allin positioned Alexander on a chair outside the ring and attempted an aerial attack. Alexander moved out of the way, causing Allin to crash into the chair.
In the closing stages, members of the Don Callis Family interfered. Rocky Romero entered the ring as Trent Beretta tried to get involved.
However, a masked individual attacked Beretta from behind before revealing himself as Steven Borden. The distraction allowed Allin to counter Alexander’s Ankle Lock into a pinning combination, securing the victory and retaining his championship.
Winner: Darby Allin
AEW TBS Title Match: Persephone (c) vs. Queen Aminata
The main event saw Persephone defend the AEW TBS Championship against Queen Aminata, with Britt Baker accompanying the champion.
Aminata started aggressively, but Persephone soon took control and attempted to wear down her challenger with submission holds. Baker became involved when Aminata appeared close to securing a pinfall, interfering from ringside while the referee was distracted.
Persephone continued targeting Aminata’s neck, even removing the kinesiology tape protecting the area. Aminata fought back and delivered a meteora to Persephone, who had been positioned on a chair outside the ring.
Baker subsequently struck Aminata with the TBS Championship belt while the referee was occupied. Persephone capitalised with a moonsault from the top rope, but Aminata kicked out.
Despite the interference, Aminata refused to stay down. The challenger eventually connected with a headbutt followed by a running knee strike, securing the three-count to become the new AEW TBS Champion.
Following the match, Willow Nightingale, Thunder Rosa, Hyan, Maya World, Mina Shirakawa, Harley Cameron and Kris Statlander entered the ring to celebrate Aminata’s championship victory.
The celebrations brought the Fright Night edition of Dynamite to a close.
