A new development has emerged in Ludwig Kaiser’s ongoing legal case as his defence team seeks access to surveillance footage that could play a key role in the proceedings.
According to a motion filed on June 16, Ludwig Kaiser, whose real name is Marcel Barthel, is requesting a court-authorised subpoena to obtain video from the Orlando apartment complex where the alleged battery incident took place on April 23, 2026. The footage is believed to have captured the incident outside a 12th-floor elevator at approximately 6:30 p.m.
Court documents state that Kaiser’s legal representatives contacted the apartment complex’s management but were informed that the surveillance footage could not be released without a subpoena. The filing argues that access to the video is necessary for Barthel to prepare his defence. The motion also notes that prosecutors do not oppose the request.

Ludwig Kaiser was arrested and charged with battery following the alleged incident. According to the alleged victim, a fellow resident of the apartment complex, the confrontation began after he asked Kaiser and a woman to “please have some manners” while they were kissing in an elevator. The man claims Kaiser then attacked him, leaving a large scratch and redness on his head.
Authorities reportedly identified Kaiser as a suspect after reviewing surveillance footage, and the alleged victim later selected him from a photo lineup. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for July 16. During that hearing, both sides are expected to discuss whether the matter can be resolved through a plea agreement or proceed to trial.
The report also notes that the alleged victim may be exploring a civil lawsuit, having retained an attorney who specialises in personal injury and civil litigation matters. Kaiser remains free to travel and continue performing for WWE while the case moves through the legal system.
