The fallout from NXT Great American Bash dominated the June 30 edition of WWE NXT as Kendal Grey celebrated her Women’s Championship victory, new challengers emerged across multiple divisions, and several rivalries intensified.
The show opened with Grey addressing the NXT Universe for the first time as champion. The emotional titleholder admitted she was more comfortable competing than speaking in front of a crowd, reflecting on the self-doubt she had overcome to capture the championship. Grey promised she may not always talk like a champion, but she would always wrestle like one. Wren Sinclair joined the celebration with a cake before Kelani Jordan interrupted to demand a title opportunity. The confrontation was cut short when Tatum Paxley attacked Jordan, sparking a backstage brawl.
Chaos continued behind the scenes when Keanu Carver attacked AAA Latin American Champion El Hijo del Vikingo with a lead pipe, forcing Robert Stone to cancel Vikingo’s scheduled title defence against EK Prosper. Stone instead booked Prosper to face Carver later in the evening.
The Vanity Project successfully retained the NXT Tag Team Championship by defeating El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. and Galeno. After surviving an impressive challenge from the Mexican duo, the champions capitalised on a distraction to retain their titles. Later, Stone announced a Fatal Four-Way Number One Contender’s Match involving BirthRight, OTM, Sean Legacy‘s team and DarkState to determine the next challengers.
Jackson Drake scored a controversial victory over Mason Rook after interference from members of The Vanity Project. Rook appeared to have the match won before the champions distracted the referee, allowing Drake to steal the victory. Following the match, an angry Rook attacked Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes before they retreated.
Elsewhere, Kali Armstrong unsuccessfully attempted to convince Robert Stone that she deserved an NXT Women’s Championship opportunity.
EK Prosper then defeated Keanu Carver despite Carver dominating large portions of the contest. Hank Ledger distracted Carver late in the match, allowing Prosper to capitalise with a Shining Wizard and top-rope moonsault to secure the win.
Backstage, Nattie convinced Robert Stone to grant her an NXT Women’s Championship match against Kendal Grey. Jaida Parker then defeated Karmen Petrovic with a sit-out powerbomb after overcoming an impressive challenge from her opponent.
NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo later reflected on overcoming an eye injury to retain his title at The Great American Bash before warning the locker room that nobody was willing to sacrifice as much as he was to become champion. Moments later, Naraku blindsided D’Angelo and drove him onto a steel chair with a Russian Leg Sweep.
In the main event, Kelani Jordan defeated Tatum Paxley after targeting her injured ankle throughout the match before finishing her with a spinning slam and split-legged moonsault. Following the bell, the woman formerly known as Nikki Blackheart made a shocking appearance, attacking Paxley and leaving her laid out with a Torture Rack as the show came to a close.
