NXT presented the Great American Bash on June 28, the first Premium Live Event to air on The CW – minus the premium charge, plus picture-in-picture breaks. While TKO sister promotion UFC celebrated 250 years of the United States at the White House, WWE celebrated at home base in the Performance Center.
Arrival shots followed tonight’s competitors into the Orlando facility, where a rowdy fanbase rallied with red and white, CW-branded towels. The energy kickstarted with a free Great American Bash tailgate and watch party outside, hosted by Kevin Owens and Busted Open Radio’s Dave LaGreca.
Tony D’Angelo (c) vs Naraku – NXT Championship
Thanks to Naraku’s fireball last Tuesday, D’Angelo enters with a bandaged right eye. The champion immediately spears Naraku through the podium, and the latter attacks the eye thereafter. Naraku controls into picture-in-picture, whips D’Angelo into the barricade, and continues with snappy power moves. D’Angelo comes back with suplexes and powerslams, garnering “this is awesome” chants in a match that doesn’t lose steam. He pops up from Naraku’s German suplex, following up with Dead to Rights for the clean pinfall.
Winner: Tony D’Angelo
A montage features NXT gold-wearing alums at Great American Bash like Bron Breakker and Trick Williams in 2022, Judgment Day in 2023, Roxanne Perez in 2024 and Sol Ruca in 2025. In the opener, Vic Joseph shouts out new Undisputed WWE Champion Sami Zayn after Night of Champions. Plus, he credits Dusty Rhodes as the first wrestler to win a championship at the inaugural Great American Bash in 1985.
Tatum Paxley vs Zaria (c) – Women’s North American Championship
In a preceding package, Zaria blames Paxley, like Ruca, for overshadowing her limelight. Paxley tug-of-wars with the belt, but Zaria overpowers her in the early goings. The challenger traps Zaria between the ring skirt, but the latter escapes a ringside sleeper hold with a drop before picture-in-picture. Paxley comes back with a second-rope suplex, and Zaria regroups with a spear.
The champion halts a coast-to-coast attempt by just sitting up, but Paxley follows with a sunset flip to the floor. She hits two Cemetery Drives, and Zaria kicks out. The champion hits a spear and F5, and Paxley kicks out. Zaria stomps Paxley unconscious, and another F5 finally puts the match to rest.
Winner: Zaria
In the locker room, Kendal Grey shares her optimism with WrenQCC partner and Women’s Speed Champion Wren Sinclair. “Kendal Grey is not the future, she’s the now,” Sinclair tells Grey ahead of her main event.
Robert Stone invites Vanity Project into his office, where the tag team champions complain about their absence tonight. This Tuesday, Stone gifts Jackson Drake a singles match against Mason Rook, and Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes’ challengers walk in: AAA’s Dr. Wagner Jr. and Galeno.
Shiloh Hill vs Tristan Angels
Wade Barrett sides with fellow Englishman and faux “Mr. NXT” Angels, who carries the sash. Angels controls through picture-in-picture until Hill kidnaps him under the ring. The lights dim, and a camera finds Angels answering a cell phone. Hill applies a sleeper hold like a faux horror movie, and the action returns above.
Into another segment, Angels catches Hill with a mid-air Codebreaker. But Hill recuperates with a second-rope neckbreaker, identified as Whisper of the Beast, for the pinfall victory. Joseph wonders if Angels would fit in Barrett’s past factions; Barrett says nobody wants to be in The Corre or the League of Nations.
Winner: Shiloh Hill
Emily Agard interviews Hill ringside, where the victor reclaims the “Mr. NXT” sash. “I might not be polished, [but] tonight is a perfect example – why no one sleeps on Shiloh Hill,” he says in an unpolished promo.
Nattie rounds up her proteges: new Evolve Women’s Champion Nikkita Lyons, Perros Del Mal’s Karmen Petrovic, and the newest Dungeon member Layla Diggs. “I don’t want soft women in my business,” Nattie says. Diggs suggests giving Jaida Parker a break, but Petrovic vows to school the latter on Tuesday.
In Robert Stone’s office, EK Prosper asks for revenge against Keanu Carver for putting him through the announce desk. Since he still defeated Carver last week, Stone gives Prosper a AAA Latin American Championship match against El Hijo Del Vikingo this Tuesday.
Tatum Paxley, Hank and Tank, Lola Vice and Tony D’Angelo put over the United States in a montage. “You can be and do anything you want in this world, as long as you’re willing to work hard for it and treat people the right way,” Hank Walker says.
Arianna Grace vs Wren Sinclair (c) – Women’s Speed Championship
Assisted by the dissension of The Culling, Grace advances through the Speed Tournament finals – sporting Olive Oil-inspired gear with sleazy Popeye, Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo. Grace controls with Birthright ringside, and Orlando splits between Sinclair supporters and a couple vocal men. Charlie Dempsey climbs the apron at the one-minute mark, and Sinclair hits her former No Quarter Catch Crew brethren off. Sinclair avoids a small package and earns the submission victory with Final Wrench.
Winner: Wren Sinclair
Earlier at the overflow watch party, Blake Howard asks Kevin Owens and Dave LaGreca about tonight’s festivities. “Saquon [Shugars] said on Tuesday that the members of DarkState can’t wipe their own asses without him helping,” Owens reiterates.
Dion Lennox vs Saquon Shugars
“I wanna see Saquon!” a woman’s voice says in Shugars’s Chavo Guerrero-esque intro line. “It don’t get no sweeter than that!” his tron reads. Wade Barrett compares the infighting bitterness of Nexus to DarkState and calls Shugars a polar opposite (sort of like Bryan Danielson). Shugars hits a neckbreaker as Osiris Griffin and Cutler James appear ringside.
Momentum shifts through picture-in-picture, and Lennox delivers a spinebuster thereafter. Shugars tests out quirky combos, and a split-legged leg drop is the more orthodox example. Lennox drives Shugars into the turnbuckle connector and hits Emerald Flowsion for a two-count. Shugars seems to improvise and finishes with a backwards Frog Splash for victory.
Winner: Saquon Shugars
Griffin and James immediately jump the victor, dropping him with a mid-air powerbomb. Lennox steals Shugars’ baseball bat and gives “Sugar Man” a taste of his bitter medicine.
Backstage, Tatum Paxley is interviewed about her loss against Zaria. Kehlani Jordan wonders why she’s crying, calling out her multiple opportunities. Paxley responds with a right hand, commencing in a pull-apart.
Tavion Heights vs Myles Borne (c) – North American Championship
Former No Quarter Catch Crew members compete, as Vic Joseph notes that Heights hasn’t had a PLE match since September 2025. They ruggedly grapple, knocking heads with a stereo shot attempt. After picture-in-picture, Joseph says Heights’s punch is the first thrown so far. With a chip on his shoulder, Heights controls with Olympic-level throws – albeit to a lull in Orlando. Ringside, Heights hits a belly-to-belly suplex into another segment. He halts Borne’s comeback attempt, but the champion reverses a fireman’s carry with Borne Again for victory.
Winner: Myles Borne
Heights shakes the victor’s hand, and Emily Agard interviews the reigning champion ringside. Borne says Heights pushes him to be the best, vowing to defend the North American Championship against friend or foe.
AAA and NXT announce two shows, one day on August 30 in Edinburg, Texas, headlined by NXT Heatwave.
Back outside at the watch party, Dave LaGreca shows off his Kendal Grey T-shirt. “I’ve never turned on anyone in my life,” Kevin Owens says about DarkState’s implosion. Hank and Tank arrive in cookout aprons, and Tank Ledger hypes up EK Prosper’s match against El Hijo Del Vikingo. Sore loser Keanu Carver takes offense, throwing Hank Walker off the platform through two tables.
Kendal Grey vs Lola Vice (c) – NXT Women’s Champion
Both competitors hug their families ringside, and Orlando splits its support. Wearing Kurt Angle-inspired gear, it’s Grey graps versus Vice’s MMA background, as rhetoric throughout the night calls the competitors NXT’s best crossover athletes. Kehlani Jordan attempts to interfere, but WrenQCC’s Wren Sinclair makes the save as Vice hits a seated senton. After picture-in-picture, Grey pulls the straps down and comes back with multiple suplexes.
The competitors trade strikes, and Vice hits a mid-air spinning heel kick. She attempts another, but Grey reverses with an ankle lock. They exchange armbars and sleeper holds, and Vice applies a guillotine and triangle lock. The champion hits a signature spinning backfist, and Grey lands a last-ditch elbow for a double-pin two-count. Grey avoids a final backfist and delivers Shades of Grey for the crowning victory. Wren Sinclair celebrates in-ring as WrenQCC houses both singles women’s titles in NXT.
Winner: Kendal Grey
