Will Ospreay has asked Tony Khan to take AEW to the Colosseum in Rome.
In recent months, AEW has moved towards smaller but more interesting venues for its weekly TV shows while still hosting pay-per-view events in larger arenas and stadiums. In an interview with Baby Huey of 107.7 The Bone, Will Ospreay brought up an idea he brought up to Tony Khan that could combine the different types of venues, the legendary Colosseum in Rome.
“For me, the best bit about AEW right now is these crazy venues that we’ve been doing. These venues have been amazing, right? And I’ve heard Tony saying that he wants to go and explore different markets. I’ve heard it was Puerto Rico that he recently said, he said France.
“There are so many crazy, intricate venues that we could find ourselves in, right? But in Italy, I found out that they’ve been renting out the Colosseum, like to do nightclub events, DJ events. I was just like, ‘Mate if we did a pro wrestling event in the Colosseum, it would be incredible.’ I’ve wrestled in Italy before on a small indie, and there was like 120 people, but they were wild. I don’t know what the reach is there, but if there was wrestling in The Colosseum, I’m going.”
Continuing, Ospreay joked that he could enter with a Trojan Horse, and said the idea was a genuine possibility if enough people were to pitch it to Tony Khan.
“I’d come out in a little Trojan horse, little toga on. Mate, I’d love it. I have sent him a link just being like, ‘Look, we could rent this building out, mate.’ So maybe if enough people push him into it, it’ll probably happen.”
Will Ospreay To Challenge For AEW World Title At All In
While he won’t be wrestling in the Colosseum anytime soon, Will Ospreay has secured his spot in the main event of AEW All In at London’s Wembley Stadium. At Forbidden Door, Ospreay went to war with Swerve Strickland in the final of the Men’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. He finally put the former World Champion away with some inspiration from Jon Moxley, hitting a Death Rider, Paradigm Shift, and finally the Tiger Driver to get the pinfall.
The win means that Will Ospreay not only captured the Owen Hart Cup but will now challenge the AEW World Champion at All In. Currently, MJF is in his third reign with the title, but with a defence against Mark Briscoe coming up on Dynamite and the new Redemption pay-per-view being held on July 26th, a lot could change on the road to Wembley.
