Last night’s AEW Forbidden Door 2026 pay-per-view saw the winners of both the men’s and women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournaments.
Will Ospreay and Mercedes Mone emerged victorious in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament finals at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, earning world championship opportunities at All In later this summer.
Will Ospreay overcame Swerve Strickland in a brutal men’s tournament final that headlined the pay-per-view from the SAP Center in San Jose, California. The hard-fought contest saw both competitors pushed to their limits, with each man left bloodied after a physical encounter featuring numerous near-falls and multiple finishing moves.
Despite Strickland refusing to stay down, Ospreay eventually secured the victory after delivering a Death Rider, followed by a Paradigm Shift and finally a Tiger Driver to score the pinfall.
The victory crowned Ospreay as the 2026 Owen Hart Foundation Tournament winner and secured him an AEW World Championship match at All In in London.
The closing moments of the show also featured The Death Riders, who appeared at ringside before Ospreay’s decisive sequence. After the match, Ospreay celebrated alongside Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli, raising the Owen Hart Foundation trophy before sharing a kiss with Alex Windsor as Forbidden Door went off the air.
Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Final Took Place Earlier On The Forbidden Door Card
Earlier in the night, Mercedes Mone captured the women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament for the second consecutive year by defeating Maya World in the tournament final.
The match remained closely contested throughout, with World producing an impressive performance after entering the tournament as a late replacement for the injured Sareee. World came close to forcing Mone to submit with the Statement Maker before the former TBS Champion reversed the hold and applied one of her own to earn the submission victory.
Mone’s path to the final also came after she entered the tournament following Willow Nightingale‘s shoulder injury, defeating Alex Windsor and Hazuki to reach the final match.
World’s run to the final included victories over Skye Blue and Athena and came during an emotional period following the recent passing of her brother. Following the match, Athena hinted during a backstage interview with Renee Paquette that a future ROH Women’s World Championship match between the pair could be on the horizon.
By winning the tournament for a second straight year, Mone has earned another opportunity to challenge for the AEW Women’s World Championship at All In. She fell short in her previous title opportunity at last year’s event against Toni Storm, before embarking on a lengthy belt-collector run that saw her hold multiple championships across several promotions.
