Will Ospreay is heading to the final of the 2026 Owen Hart Foundation Tournament after surviving a chaotic main event on Wednesday night’s episode of AEW Dynamite.
Will Ospreay defeated AEW National Champion Mark Davis in a hard-fought semi-final contest to book his place in the tournament final at Forbidden Door. He will now face the winner of next week’s semi-final between Brody King and Swerve Strickland.
The match saw Davis focus heavily on Ospreay’s neck, using his size and power advantage to wear down his former ally throughout the contest. After an evenly contested opening, the action spilled to ringside, where Davis drove Ospreay into the barricade and later dropped him across the commentary table.
Back inside the ring, Davis continued to control large portions of the match, connecting with a superplex and repeatedly cutting off Ospreay’s attempts to build momentum. Ospreay eventually fought back with a series of stiff kicks before targeting Davis’ arm to slow the National Champion down.
The closing stages saw both men exchange near falls, including a Styles Clash from Ospreay that still wasn’t enough to secure the victory. Matters then descended into chaos after the referee was accidentally removed from the action.
Multiple Interferences Nearly Cost Will Ospreay His Spot In The Owen Hart Cup Finals
Will Ospreay connected with the Hidden Blade and appeared to have the match won, but there was no official available to count the pinfall. The situation quickly escalated when members of The Don Callis Family rushed to ringside.
The Death Riders soon followed, sparking a wild brawl among multiple competitors. Despite the interference, Ospreay continued to battle through the distractions and landed an Os-Cutter on Davis, but the absence of a referee again prevented a result.
The chaos continued when Kyle Fletcher arrived, armed with a screwdriver, and attempted to attack Ospreay. However, Konosuke Takeshita appeared and stopped Fletcher before the situation could escalate further.
Even after absorbing multiple Hidden Blades, Davis refused to stay down and answered with another piledriver in a final desperate attempt to reach the tournament final himself.
Ospreay ultimately found the opening he needed by locking Davis in the Death Ground submission. Unable to escape, Davis was forced to tap out.
The victory sends Ospreay to the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament final, keeping alive his hopes of earning a future opportunity for the AEW World Championship. Dynamite closed with Ospreay celebrating in the ring alongside the fans after overcoming both Davis and the chaos that surrounded the match.
