A scheduled bout between Will Ospreay and Mark Davis on the April 22 episode of AEW Dynamite was brought to an abrupt end following medical intervention.
What began as a fast-paced and physical contest quickly escalated, with both men trading heavy offence inside and outside the ring. Momentum shifted throughout, but the match took a serious turn when Mark Davis delivered a piledriver on the apron, leaving Will Ospreay in visible distress.
Referee Paul Turner immediately called for medical assistance, with ringside physician Doc Sampson entering to assess the situation. The stoppage stood out from a typical near fall, as officials treated the moment as a legitimate injury concern rather than part of the match.
Ospreay had already shown signs of damage earlier in the bout, particularly to his arm, but the apron impact proved decisive. Although he attempted to continue, medical staff ultimately advised that the match be stopped.
The referee officially awarded the victory to Davis via stoppage at 15:33.
Mark Davis Continued To Attack Will Ospreay After His Stoppage Win
Following the decision, tensions remained high as Mark Davis briefly continued the attack before the situation was diffused. Will Ospreay required assistance to leave the ringside area, with members of the Death Riders escorting him backstage.
