AEW Dynamite centred around new AEW World Champion Darby Allin, with the champion successfully defending his title in a brutal main event and a new challenger quickly stepping up.
The show opened with MJF confronting Allin and demanding his championship back, insisting he had been robbed. Kevin Knight interrupted, leading to a heated exchange and a teased TNT Title match that MJF ultimately backed out of, delaying it until next week.
In the first match, Brody King defeated Lio Rush after a hard-hitting contest. Rush used his speed and aerial offence to stay competitive, but King’s power proved decisive as he finished the match with a Gonzo Bomb.
Backstage, Adam Copeland challenged FTR to a New York Street Fight at Double or Nothing, adding the stipulation that he and Christian Cage would retire as a team if they lost.
In women’s action, Hikaru Shida defeated Mina Shirakawa in a competitive match that saw both women trade momentum throughout. A late distraction allowed Shida to capitalise with a knee strike and Falcon Arrow for the win.
Will Ospreay then faced Mark Davis in a physical contest that ended abruptly. Ospreay, who had only recently been medically cleared, appeared to suffer an injury during the match, prompting officials to stop the bout after he reported losing feeling in his arm.
After the match, members of the Death Riders attacked Ospreay and carried him out through the crowd, escalating tensions around the group.
Samoa Joe returned to action with a dominant win over Cody Chhun, finishing the match with the Muscle Buster.
In the main event, Allin defended the AEW World Championship against Tommaso Ciampa in a physical and chaotic match. The action quickly spilled to the outside, with Allin delivering a high-risk dive through a table, while Ciampa responded with repeated knee strikes and heavy offence.
Both men came close to victory multiple times, with Ciampa landing several near falls following a series of knee strikes and finishing attempts. Allin continued to fight back, eventually countering into a Scorpion Deathlock.
Ciampa attempted to reach the ropes but was forced to submit, giving Allin his first successful title defence.
After the match, Ciampa showed respect by shaking Allin’s hand. Brody King then entered the ring and issued a challenge for the AEW World Championship, confirming a title match for next week. Allin accepted, closing the show with his next defence already set.
