Tony Khan has revealed that visa issues have created significant challenges ahead of this weekend’s AEW Forbidden Door pay-per-view.
Speaking during Thursday’s Forbidden Doormedia call, the AEW President said several wrestlers have been affected, describing the situation as a “massive challenge” for the event. In addition to previously reported issues involving Beast Mortos and Komander, Tony Khan confirmed that Mark Davis, Gabe Kidd, and Hechicero have also encountered visa-related problems.
Hechicero has not competed for AEW since the April 22 taping of AEW Collision, while Davis has been absent from AEW competition since the June 3 episode of AEW Dynamite.
Gabe Kidd’s most recent AEW appearance came at Dynasty on April 12 in Vancouver, Canada. His last match for the promotion in the United States took place on the March 18 edition of Dynamite, where he was defeated by Darby Allin in a Coffin Match.
Gabe Kidd’s Visa Issues Forced Tony Khan To Change His Forbidden Door Plans
Gabe Kidd had recently appeared to be heading towards a Forbidden Door showdown with newly crowned IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion Shota Umino after attacking him at NJPW Dominion on June 14. However, Pac was later confirmed as Umino’s opponent after Umino issued a challenge, which was accepted during NJPW’s Blue Justice event on June 20.
Meanwhile, Hechicero remained involved in AEW storylines despite his absence from the United States. During AEW’s event at Arena Mexico last week, he turned on former Don Callis Family stablemate Konosuke Takeshita by attacking him after the pair had teamed together in a tag team match.
It remains to be seen whether the affected wrestlers will be able to resolve their visa issues in time for future AEW appearances.
