Steven Borden returned to AEW television on the October 21 episode of Dynamite and said he intends to compete in next month’s Blood & Guts match.
WWE Hall of Famer Sting‘s son had been absent from AEW programming since suffering an injury at All Out in September. Steven Borden returned during the closing moments of Wednesday’s Dynamite, coming to the aid of Will Ospreay and Adam Copeland following their tag team match against Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight.
Fletcher and Knight secured the victory after using Kazuchika Okada‘s International Championship belt to gain an advantage. Following the match, additional members of the Don Callis Family entered the ring and attacked Ospreay and Copeland, prompting Darby Allin to make his way out.
Allin then gestured towards the entrance, bringing out Borden for his first appearance in more than a month. The two rushed to the ring alongside The Young Bucks, who had suffered a defeat against Mark Davis and Jake Doyle earlier in the evening. Together, they fought off the Don Callis Family and cleared the ring.
Steven Borden Targets AEW Blood & Guts Following Injury Absence
With the ring cleared, Steven Borden grabbed a microphone and said he had returned to participate in Blood & Guts next month. His announcement marked a major development after the injury that kept him away from AEW television since September.
Borden was stretchered out of All Out after a frightening incident during a match involving Kevin Knight. The second-generation wrestler was involved in a mid-air exchange with Knight when he landed awkwardly, striking the back of his head against the canvas.
The match was subsequently stopped, with Borden suffering what was believed to be a concussion. His return on Dynamite was his first televised appearance since the incident.
Borden’s involvement also adds another potential participant to the developing rivalry between the Don Callis Family and the group consisting of Ospreay, Copeland, Allin and the Young Bucks. Although Borden has made his intentions clear, AEW has not yet officially confirmed the complete lineup for next month’s Blood & Guts match.
