A positive update has emerged on Steven Borden after he was taken to hospital following an injury at AEW All Out.
Steven Borden made his in-ring pay-per-view debut alongside Darby Allin in a No. 1 Contender’s Match against Don Callis Family members Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight. During the match, Borden and Knight collided in mid-air, leaving Borden injured. AEW doctor Michael Sampson checked on Borden before the match ended, and staff took him from ringside on a stretcher.
Tony Schiavone later informed viewers that Borden was awake and had been transported to hospital for further evaluation. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer provided an encouraging update on Borden’s condition.
“He’s okay. I didn’t hear if he flew home but I was told that he was going to be able to fly home,” Meltzer said.
Tony Khan Provides Steven Borden Injury Update
AEW President Tony Khan also addressed Steven Borden’s condition during the All Out post-show media scrum. According to Khan, Borden underwent testing at the hospital, and his CT scan came back good. He added that Borden was expected to fly home the following day.
The incident prompted discussion on social media over the risks involved in the spot and whether anyone was responsible for the injury. Ricochet responded by pointing out that professional wrestlers can suffer injuries performing both high- and low-risk moves.
He encouraged fans to focus instead on hoping Borden continues to recover. Borden is the son of WWE Hall of Famer Sting and began wrestling for AEW earlier this year alongside Allin.
