Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns may be on a collision course following WWE Clash in Italy.
After the pay-per-view went off the air, WWE shared footage on social media showing a tense staredown between the Undisputed WWE Champion and the World Heavyweight Champion. During the brief encounter, Cody Rhodes nodded toward Roman Reigns before walking past him, leaving fans to speculate about a future showdown between the two top stars.
Earlier in the night, Reigns successfully retained the World Heavyweight Championship by defeating Jacob Fatu in a brutal Tribal Combat match. Following the victory, Reigns made it clear that he still views himself as WWE’s top star.
“Now they know who the head of the table is, who the captain of the ship is,” Reigns said. “QB1? Forget that noise. It’s the Tribal Chief.”
Rhodes later responded to Reigns’ comments during the post-show press conference, pointing out that their rivalry remains unresolved.
“He beat me once, and I beat him once,” Rhodes said. “Add him to the list. We said Gunther can get a rematch whenever he wants it. Come and get it. Easy to find, hard to beat, that goes for Roman Reigns as well.”
Cody Rhodes Defeated Gunther At Clash In Italy To Retain The Undisputed WWE Title
Cody Rhodes also picked up a major victory of his own at Clash in Italy, retaining the Undisputed WWE Championship against Gunther in the event’s opening match. The finish proved controversial, however, as replay footage appeared to show Gunther getting his foot on the bottom rope before the referee completed the three-count.
With both men leaving Turin as world champions and exchanging pointed remarks afterward, the possibility of another chapter in the Rhodes-Reigns rivalry appears very much alive.
