Ricochet has weighed in on the safety of the spot that led to Steven Borden suffering an injury at AEW All Out.
Steven Borden was injured at AEW All Out while performing a planned move that saw him collide with Kevin Knight in mid-air. Borden leapt off the turnbuckle at the same time as Knight on the opposite side, and the pair met in the middle. When landing, the back of Borden’s head hit the mat, seemingly knocking him unconscious. The bout was immediately halted, and Borden was taken away on a stretcher.
Following All Out, Tony Khan provided a positive update on Borden, saying all of his tests, including a CT scan, had “come back good.”
Ricochet Says Wrestlers Face The Risk Of Injury In Every Match
The spot Borden and Knight were attempting was reminiscent of a similar move Ricochet and Logan Paul performed at the 2023 Royal Rumble. When a fan suggested on social media that WWE would have had more extensive rehearsals than AEW for the move, Ricochet responded, saying that they only tried it once. The star went on to explain that it wouldn’t have mattered how many times it was practiced, as injuries can happen at any time in a match.
“No, we tried it once and that was basically it.
But it doesn’t matter if we practiced it once or 100 times. People have been hurt in wrestling doing high risk and low risk moves. It unfortunately is an aspect we face every time we step into the ring.
No one is at fault here. Its just an unfortunate situation. So lets just hope that Steven continues to get better.”
