WWE Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley is undergoing evaluation after reportedly suffering a knee injury.
During Friday night’s episode of SmackDown, commentator Wade Barrett revealed that Rhea Ripley sustained the injury while WWE was in Italy and is currently being assessed by medical staff. At this stage, WWE has not disclosed the severity of the injury, and there is no timetable for Ripley’s return should she be forced to miss any ring time.
The injury news comes just weeks after Ripley successfully defended the WWE Women’s Championship against Jade Cargill at Clash in Italy. Despite the physical nature of the match, Ripley appeared to finish the bout without any obvious signs of a serious issue and retained her title.
Ripley also continued to compete throughout WWE’s recent European tour, although some fans noticed that she was wearing a bandage on her leg during several appearances. It remains unclear whether the injury occurred during a match, during training, or outside the ring.
Will Rhea Ripley Have To Vacate The WWE Women’s Title Due To Injury?
For now, there has been no indication that Rhea Ripley will be forced to relinquish the WWE Women’s Championship, suggesting the injury is not expected to keep her sidelined for an extended period.
However, WWE is awaiting the results of the evaluation before making any official announcement regarding Ripley’s status. One of WWE’s top stars, Ripley has been a central figure in the women’s division throughout 2026, making any potential absence a significant development heading into Night of Champions and SummerSlam season.
