A concerning new update has emerged regarding the injury status of a WWE and AAA star.
There are growing concerns over the condition of El Hijo del Vikingo after a new report suggested the AAA star could be facing a significant injury. Vikingo was originally scheduled to defend the AAA Latin American Championship against EK Prosper on the June 30 episode of WWE NXT. However, the match was cancelled after he reportedly suffered an injury during rehearsals before the show.
To explain his absence on television, a backstage angle was aired in which Keanu Carver attacked Vikingo, writing him off the programme.
It was later reported that Vikingo had suffered a knee injury, with WWE awaiting the results of an MRI scan to determine the extent of the damage.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the outlook may be more concerning than initially hoped. Dave Meltzer revealed he had heard the injury “could be serious,” while Bryan Alvarez added, “Yeah, it doesn’t sound good.”
El Hijo Del Vikingo Competed On WWE SmackDown Prior To Injury Reports
Despite the injury, El Hijo del Vikingo appeared on the July 3 episode of SmackDown to face Rey Fenix for the AAA Cruiserweight Championship. However, the bout had been taped on June 29 in Atlantic City, one day before the reported injury occurred.
Although Vikingo was unsuccessful in his championship challenge, the contest marked his first match on WWE’s main roster and showcased the 29-year-old to a wider audience.
Vikingo is reportedly under a WWE contract, unlike many other members of the AAA roster, making the injury a potentially significant setback if fears about its severity are confirmed. Neither WWE nor AAA has officially commented on the MRI results or provided a timetable for his return.
