Former WWE music composer Jim Johnston has claimed Triple H is not a fan of him and believes his association with Vince McMahon contributed to his departure from the company. Speaking on the All Access Entertainment podcast, Johnston discussed creating Triple H’s entrance themes with Motörhead and suggested Triple H prefers the perception that the band wrote the songs. Johnston believes that when Triple H transitioned into a backstage role, he wanted his own people around him and viewed Johnston as “Vince’s guy”. The 74-year-old spent almost three decades with WWE and created themes for stars including Steve Austin, The Rock and The Undertaker before leaving in 2017. His final WWE theme was Baron Corbin’s “I Bring the Darkness.”
Dave Meltzer has praised the booking of NJPW’s latest G1 Climax tournament, particularly the decision to feature Ryohei Oiwa and Yuya Uemura in the final. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer said booker Gedo finally recognised the importance of establishing new stars, with fans eager to see two wrestlers who had never won the tournament or held the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship reach the final. Oiwa defeated Uemura in a widely praised match, earning an IWGP World Heavyweight Championship opportunity against Yota Tsuji. Rather than waiting until Wrestle Kingdom, Oiwa has chosen to challenge Tsuji at King of Pro Wrestling in October.
