Paul Wight has reflected on today’s wrestling landscape while naming two stars he would most like to face in AEW.
Speaking on Under The Mat With Simon Miller, Paul Wight praised the current generation of talent, highlighting the work ethic and mindset of Will Ospreay.
“Super positive. Super hard work ethic. Gets the business… incredible love for wrestling,” Wight said.
The former world champion compared today’s roster to the legends he shared the ring with throughout his career, including Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan and Bret Hart. He noted that, in his view, wrestling has never seen a deeper pool of talent across both men’s and women’s divisions.
“Overall, there’s never been… such incredible talent,” Wight said. “There’s a lot of incredibly athletic, diversified talents… when you think it’s all been done, something new comes along.”

Paul Wight also identified two AEW names he would most like to work with before retiring. He pointed to Kenny Omega as someone he would enjoy either teaming with or facing, while also naming Darby Allin as a potential opponent, suggesting their contrasting styles could create a memorable dynamic.
The comments come as Wight continues to work toward a potential in-ring return in AEW, having recently shared updates on his physical transformation ahead of what he has indicated will be the final stretch of his career.
