Keeping true to his promise, Pat McAfee has stated he is done with pro-wrestling.
Before WrestleMania McAfee made a vow to leave wrestling if Randy Orton lost at WrestleMania. Champion Cody Rhodes retained the WWE Universal Championship on Night One.
On his show today, McAfee thanked the WWE and announced his exit, wearing a neck brace after last night’s RKO from Orton.
“The good news is the business doesn’t need to be saved after all. And good for them and for me, I finished my story,” he said.
McAfee expressed how lucky he was to be part of the business.
“Get to WWE, commentated, lucky to do that. Did pre-shows, lucky to do that. Wrestled, lucky to do that. Reffed, lucky to do that. Managed, lucky to do that. It’s been a hell of a run. Thank you, wrestling. It was an honor to be over there,” he said.
“The wrestling business just kind of in the rearview mirror. To the wrestling business, I’d like to say: thank you. Thank you so much. Thank you,” he said.
On social media, McAfee also posted his thoughts and a final message:
