Further details have emerged on Cody Rhodes‘ new WWE deal.
Earlier in October, Cody Rhodes announced that he had signed a new contract with WWE. The American Nightmare did not go into detail about the deal, but confirmed his intent to end his wrestling career in the promotion.
Now, the New York Times has revealed how long Rhodes’ contract will last. In an article looking at Rhodes and Roman Reigns‘ roles in the new Street Fighter movie, the newspaper said he has signed on for five more years.
“But wrestling is still their day job. Rhodes recently signed a five-year contract extension with WWE, and Reigns wrestled at an event in New Orleans two days before the ‘Street Fighter’ premiere in Los Angeles.”
Cody Rhodes Doesn’t Plan To “Fall Down For A Living” For Much Longer
Cody Rhodes’ new contract will take him through to 2031, which fits in with the timeline he recently gave in a recent interview. At the time, the star said he didn’t want to be “falling down for a living” when his daughter was 11 years old. His first daughter with Brandi Rhodes, Liberty, was born in 2021, meaning she will turn 11 in 2032.
Rhodes also noted that he admired John Cena‘s retirement, saying he enjoyed the “finality” the 17-time World Champion brought to the end of his career. According to Rhodes, when Cena says he will never wrestle again, he “really means it.”
