New champions were crowned on last night’s special AEW Grand Slam: Mexico show.
“Hangman” Adam Page, Bandido and Brody King captured the AEW World Trios Championship in the main event of Wednesday’s AEW Grand Slam: Mexico, ending The Demand’s reign after just seven days.
Competing together for the first time as a trio, Page, Bandido and King, dubbed “The Good, The Bad & The Ugly”, defeated Ricochet, Toa Liona and Bishop Kaun to win the titles in Arena Mexico.
The finish saw Page level Liona with a Buckshot Lariat as Bandido struggled to lift him for the 21 Plex. The impact knocked Liona into position, allowing Bandido to complete the move and score the decisive pinfall.
The trio had only officially formed last week after Page came to the aid of King and The Conglomeration during an attack by The Demand and Lethal Twist, quickly earning a championship opportunity at Grand Slam: Mexico.
The victory marks the second AEW World Trios Championship reign for both Page and King, although each has won the titles with different partners. For Bandido, it is his first Trios Championship reign, making him a double champion as he continues to hold the ROH World Championship.
The Demand’s AEW World Trios Title Reign Ended After A Week
The Demand’s title reign comes to an end after just seven days. Ricochet, Liona and Kaun captured the championships last week on Dynamite before successfully defending them against The Rascalz the following night on Collision, setting up Wednesday’s title clash in the process.
Arena Mexico has become a memorable venue for Page in recent years. At last year’s inaugural Grand Slam: Mexico event, he delivered a widely praised promo in Spanish as he built towards his AEW World Championship match against Jon Moxley at All In: Texas. This year, he leaves the historic arena with championship gold once again.
