Mick Foley has reacted to the announcement of his upcoming AEW debut, saying he is looking forward to reconnecting with AEW President Tony Khan for the first time in more than a decade.
Yesterday, AEW confirmed that Mick Foley will appear at AEW Double or Nothing this Sunday as a co-host of the Buy In pre-show alongside Renee Paquette. Shortly after the announcement, Foley addressed the news on social media and admitted he was “extremely happy” to be joining the company for the event.
“FOLEY IS ALL ELITE!” Foley wrote on Facebook and Instagram.
The WWE Hall of Famer also revealed that he has not seen Khan in roughly 15 years, recalling that the pair had previously met for lunch long before AEW existed.
“I am extremely happy to be making my debut with AEW,” Foley wrote. “Looking forward to seeing Tony Khan for the first time in many years and meeting up with AEW’s amazing roster.”
Will Mick Foley Be Joining AEW Full Time?
At this stage, it remains unclear whether Mick Foley’s appearance will be a one-off or the beginning of a longer relationship with AEW. When announcing Foley for Double or Nothing, Khan referred to Sunday as Foley’s “first night” in the promotion, fuelling speculation there could be additional appearances in the future. Foley is currently still under a Legends contract with WWE, although that deal is reportedly set to expire next month.
