Mercedes Mone made her long-awaited return to AEW on Wednesday night’s Dynamite episode, revealing herself as the mystery Wild Card entrant in the 2026 Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.
The former TBS Champion had been absent from AEW television for five months before making her surprise comeback. Mercedes Mone immediately inserted herself into the tournament and defeated Alex Windsor to advance to the semi-finals.
Windsor pushed Mone throughout the contest, but “The CEO” ultimately secured the victory by forcing her opponent to submit to the Statement Maker. The win also gave Mone a measure of revenge after Windsor defeated her for the RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship in December 2025.
With the victory, Mone moves on to the semi-finals, where she will face the winner of Saturday’s match between Persephone and Hazuki on AEW Collision.
Mercedes Mone Returned To AEW After Last Appearning On The January 7, 2026, Episode Of Dynamite
Wednesday marked Mercedes Mone’s first appearance in AEW since the January 7 episode of Dynamite. Her previous appearance came shortly after losing the TBS Championship to Willow Nightingale on the New Year’s Smash edition of Dynamite on December 31, ending her record-setting title reign.
Following a celebration segment for Nightingale, Mone appeared in a backstage promo and announced she was leaving, promising to return.
Ironically, Mone’s return to the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament came after Nightingale was forced to vacate her place in the bracket due to a shoulder injury suffered in May. Nightingale was also forced to relinquish the TBS Championship because of the injury.
The appearance was also Mone’s first match since March 31, when she lost the final independent championship she held during an appearance outside AEW.
Mone entered this year’s tournament with unfinished business. She won the Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament in 2025 but fell short in her bid to capture the AEW Women’s World Championship from Toni Storm at All In: Texas.
Now back on AEW television and once again advancing through the Owen Hart Cup, Mone has another opportunity to earn a championship match and continue her pursuit of AEW’s top prize.
