Matt Jacksonhas named two huge dream tag team matches The Young Bucks never thought would be possible.
Having spent over two decades as a tag team, The Young Bucks, Nick and Matt Jackson, have been in the ring with a who’s who of tag team wrestling. However, some matches always seemed out of reach due to certain teams spending most of their careers in WWE at a time when the company wouldn’t allow their talent to compete outside the company.
Things have changed in recent years with the advent of AEW, and now two matches are in play that the Bucks never expected.
Speaking to Justin Barrasso of Undisputed, Matt Jackson spoke about the possibility of taking on Adam Copeland and Christian Cage, a bout fans have been clamouring for ever since Cope signed with AEW in 2023.
“I think it’s one of the few, final big money tag matches that are currently left and on the table. For years, we obviously counted this one out as a possibility, but now here we are–and the match is possibly at play? It still doesn’t feel real. My mind is already racing at the thought, and ideas are already in my notepad. But I won’t believe it until I see it.”
Matt Jackson Addresses The Possibility Of The Young Bucks vs. The New Day In AEW
There was an arguably bigger shock earlier in 2026, when Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods departed from WWE rather than signing a ‘restructured’ deal. While the New Day pair have not signed with AEW, there is heavy speculation that they will join the company sooner rather than later. Matt Jackson says it would be “an honor” for he and his brother to finally share the ring with their fellow veterans.
“I love seeing all of the buzz and excitement about possible future dream matches. We’ve obviously got nothing but respect and admiration for those guys, and it would be an honor if we ever had the chance to share a ring with them.
“Again, here’s a match we all but crossed off as a possibility, but here we are in 2026 and it could be at play. That’s the stuff that keeps me pumped up and motivated to keep doing this at the level we’ve been doing it all these years.”
In an interview in May, Jackson revealed that The Young Bucks had tried to get an interpromotional match against the New Day as far back as 2018. While they were able to speak to Triple H about it, the bout unfortunately never materialised.
