Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods could reportedly be heading to AEW in the near future following their departures from WWE earlier this year.
According to Fightful Select, sources stopped short of confirming that the former New Day members have signed with AEW. However, the expectation is that both will eventually join the promotion.
“While the sources wouldn’t outright confirm the acquisitions of Austin Creed and Kofi, it was noted that it is expected that they are joining the company soon as well.”
There is currently no confirmation regarding when Xavier Woods, now using his old ring name of Austin Creed, and Kofi Kingston, now simply known as Kofi, could make their first AEW appearances. Speculation has emerged surrounding a potential debut at All In, which takes place at Wembley Stadium on August 30, although nothing has been reported confirming that either man is planned for the show.
Creed and Kofi have been free agents since the beginning of August after their WWE non-compete periods expired. The pair departed WWE on May 2 after declining restructured contracts that included significant pay cuts.
Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods Will Appear On Chris Jericho’s Cruise
The pair’s next confirmed wrestling-related appearance will come later this year as guests on Chris Jericho’s Rock n’ Wrestling Rager at Sea VII.
The seventh edition of Chris Jericho‘s cruise will sail from Miami, Florida to Bimini, Bahamas from November 7 to November 11. Kofi is being advertised under that name, while his longtime tag team partner is using Austin Creed rather than Xavier Woods.
Harley Cameron, Lady Frost and free agent Myla Grace were also recently announced for the cruise. The line-up already includes wrestling legends The Great Muta and Ted DiBiase, alongside current stars including The Hardys and Elayna Black.
Despite their upcoming appearance on Jericho’s cruise and the latest report regarding their futures, neither Creed nor Kofi has officially been confirmed as joining AEW. Fightful’s report, however, indicates that there is an expectation that the longtime tag team partners will become All Elite soon.
