A long-standing WWE championship appears to have been quietly retired after it disappeared from the company’s official title listings.
The NXT Heritage Cup Championship has been removed from the champions section of WWE’s roster page, signalling that the title is no longer considered active. Fans recently noticed the change, with archived versions of the website showing the championship was still listed as recently as the end of May.

The move is unlikely to come as a surprise to many viewers. The Heritage Cup has not been featured on NXT television since July 2025, when Tony D’Angelo famously threw the trophy off a bridge during a storyline involving The Family.
The History Of The WWE NXT Heritage Cup
Originally introduced in 2020 as part of WWE NXT UK, the Heritage Cup was contested under British Rounds Rules and became a unique fixture within WWE’s developmental system. Over the years, the championship was held by a number of notable names, including Tyler Bate, Noam Dar, A-Kid, Mark Coffey, Nathan Frazer, Lexis King and Channing Lorenzo.
Dar holds the record for the longest Heritage Cup reign at 341 days.
Lorenzo remains the final recognised champion, having captured the trophy in June 2025. While the title now appears to have been retired, Lorenzo is technically still the reigning champion, with his final reign reaching 345 days. Although the Wikipedia article for the Heritage Cup states that the title has been retroactively listed as deactivated on July 12, 2025.
Although WWE has yet to formally announce the decision, the removal of the Heritage Cup from the company’s official championship listings appears to bring the title’s six-year history to an end.
