LA Knight believes he has been underappreciated throughout his career.
LA Knight made his pro wrestling debut in 2003, and since then has wrestled in promotions around the world. He is likely best known for his time in TNA in the 2010s, and WWE, where he has been signed since 2021.
In a new interview with Chris Van Vliet, Knight was asked if he had considered when he wants to retire from the ring. At the age of 43, the two-time WWE US Champion says, despite being in great shape physically, he thinks about retirement “all the time.”
“All the time. I’m looking at the clock all the time. The funny thing is, physically I could do this for a long time. I’m really good physically. Mentally, I’m just like, I’m gonna snuggle puppies.”
When it comes to wrestling full-time into his 50s, Knight is adamant that he has no plans to hang around for that long. Although he would be willing to make occasional appearances, he admitted he doesn’t think he’s a big enough star for that kind of schedule.
“No! f**k no. Would I like to be able to come in and maybe do an occasional appearance? Yeah, sure, maybe. But I don’t think I’ve been built up to the point where I can do like an Undertaker-type thing or an Austin thing or something like that. So I don’t think that’s in my future either.
“I’m Gonna Disappear In The Sunset, And You’ll Just Never See Me Again” – LA Knight On Retirement
Continuing, Knight said that when he does decide to hang up his boots, it’s unlikely fans will see him again unless he is inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. After saying he thought that wasn’t probable, Knight added that he has always felt underappreciated in the wrestling business.
“So it’s pretty much gonna be at some point when I decide to call it, I’m gonna disappear in the sunset, and you’ll just never see me again. I’m not even joking, I’m being dead ass serious.
“If they decide at some point they get crazy enough to go, we’re gonna put him in the Hall of Fame, sure, I’ll come back do that. But I got a feeling that probably ain’t gonna happen either. But maybe that’s my own feeling of just like never being… No matter where I’ve gone, I’ve always felt underappreciated in the wrestling business, but I don’t know.”
LA Knight has not wrestled on WWE TV since he and The Usos defeated IShowSpeed and The Vision at WrestleMania 42. However, he will be part of the 2026 King of the Ring tournament, facing Jey Uso, Royce Keys, and Finn Balor in a Fatal Four-Way in the first round.
