Kairi Sane may not be finished with WWE just yet, despite her recent release.
According to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer, there is an internal belief within WWE that Kairi Sane could still appear at WWE Backlash this Saturday to bring closure to her storyline involving Iyo Sky and Asuka. It remains unclear whether such an appearance would be a one-off or lead to anything further.
“Within WWE, it’s felt there is a better than 50% chance that Kairi shows up at Backlash to at least finish off that storyline,” Alvarez noted.
Sane had been central to the ongoing tension between Sky and Asuka before her departure, with the storyline built around her being caught between the two. That narrative was left unresolved following her exit, with Sky now set to face Asuka in singles competition at the Tampa event.
WWE Fans Have Stood Behind Kairi Sane Following Her Release
Her release was considered one of the more surprising cuts following WrestleMania 42, given both her recent performances and her role in the storyline. Fan support has remained strong, with the “WeWantKairi” movement gaining traction online, while AJ Styles also publicly expressed surprise at her departure.
Kairi Sane has also addressed speculation surrounding her exit, pushing back on claims that she wanted to leave to return to Japan. In a recent social media post, she reiterated her commitment to wrestling and appreciation for her teammates and fans, stating she has “never walked away” and has always given her all.
