John Cena has revealed that a stunt during a 2020 television appearance resulted in an unexpected injury to an Emmy Award-winning actor.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the 17-time world champion admitted he believes he gave comedian Eric Andre a concussion while filming an episode of The Eric Andre Show. John Cena appeared on the programme alongside A$AP Ferg and Grimes, with the segment featuring a stunt where Cena threw Andre through a bookcase.
“I’m pretty sure I gave him a concussion,” Cena said, adding that the two have remained in contact since the incident.
Despite the mishap, there appears to be no lasting tension between the pair. Cena confirmed they have maintained a positive relationship and are set to reunite on screen for the upcoming Netflix film Little Brother, which is scheduled for release on June 26.
The revelation comes as Cena continues to balance his post-wrestling career with acting commitments. Since stepping away from full-time in-ring competition, he has taken on a range of roles across film and television while remaining connected to WWE in a non-wrestling capacity.
John Cena Has Teased An Appearance At Backlash
John Cena is also being advertised for WWE Backlash tonight, where he has teased a “history-making” announcement. While he has ruled out a return to in-ring action following his retirement, his involvement at the event is expected to be a notable part of the show.
For now, Cena’s latest comments offer a rare behind-the-scenes look at the risks involved in crossover entertainment projects, even outside the wrestling ring.
