Joe Hendry has addressed his absence from WWE television.
The former TNA World Champion has not appeared on WWE programming since the May 25 episode of Raw, where he was the victim of a vicious attack that brought his recent momentum to an abrupt halt.
Before the assault, Joe Hendry had become a popular figure with WWE audiences through his musical performances, charisma, and crossover appearances from TNA and NXT. However, his fortunes changed after performing a parody song aimed at Logan Paul during an episode of Raw.
The song, titled “Fire Logan Paul,” drew a strong reaction from the crowd but also attracted unwanted attention from Paul’s allies.
Moments later, Austin Theory stormed the ring and attacked Hendry with a steel chair. Acting on behalf of Logan Paul and Paul Heyman, Theory left Hendry as officials rushed to check on him. The attack served as the storyline explanation for Hendry’s disappearance from WWE television.
Joe Hendry Blames Austin Theory For His WWE TV Absence
Speaking recently with the Toronto Sun, Joe Hendry provided an update on his status while correcting an assumption that he would appear on Raw and on WWE’s upcoming tour of the United Kingdom.
“I have to say, you said I’d be part of the UK tour, but right now I am healing up, my friend,” Hendry said. “I was attacked by Austin Theory, so you know, it is what it is.”
The comments suggest Hendry is continuing to sell the storyline injury suffered at the hands of Theory.
His absence has been particularly noticeable given the popularity he had built during his appearances on WWE television. Hendry quickly connected with fans through his entrance, catchphrases, and musical segments, becoming one of the more talked-about crossover stars to emerge from WWE’s working relationship with TNA.
At this stage, WWE has not announced when Hendry will return to television.
