Joe Hendry has revealed the philosophy behind the music that has become a trademark of his wrestling career.
Speaking on The Early Bird Special podcast, the WWE star explained that his goal when writing songs is to create something fans can immediately sing along to, citing his entrance theme and parody songs as examples.
“Hey, let’s address the elephant in the room. I’m somewhat of a musical genius,” Joe Hendry joked. “So, yeah, it is a little different [to make music]. Well, I know a lot of wrestlers like to play music, you know, but it’s a little different when I write a song.”
Hendry said simplicity and audience participation are at the heart of his songwriting process.
“The goal is, you’ve got to get the entire arena singing along with a song after only hearing it half a chorus one time, and that’s what I pride myself on being able to do. So, yeah, I had a lot of fun with the ‘Fire Logan Paul’ song.”
The Scottish star has produced several songs centred around his opponents, with his latest taking aim at Logan Paul. He recently performed “Fire Logan Paul” during an appearance on WWE Raw in London before being attacked by Paul’s tag team partner, Austin Theory.
Joe Hendry Confirmed Plans To Release An Album
Joe Hendry also confirmed that he plans to release a music album in the future and named fellow WWE star John Cena as the benchmark for wrestling-themed music.
“Soon,” Hendry said when asked when fans can expect the project. “John Cena has set the standard. It’s tough to make a great wrestling album, and John Cena did it.”
