Janel Grant‘s lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE will officially move to private arbitration after both sides reached an agreement to resolve the dispute outside of court.
The decision follows a ruling by a Connecticut judge last month approving the move to arbitration. Under the agreement, the lawsuit will be voluntarily dismissed with prejudice within the next five business days, although both parties will retain the right to pursue their claims and defences through the arbitration process.
Janel Grant’s attorney, Ann Callis, confirmed the agreement in a joint status report filed with the court.
“Pursuant to the Court’s July 13, 2026 order, ECF No. 151, Plaintiff Janel Grant, Defendant World Wrestling Entertainment, LLC, and Defendant Vincent K. McMahon (together, the “Parties”) jointly report that the Parties have executed an agreement to arbitrate their dispute. Pursuant to that agreement, within five business days, Plaintiff shall execute and cause to be filed a Stipulation of Voluntary Dismissal with Prejudice causing the action to be dismissed in its entirety, as to both remaining defendants, but without prejudice to the Parties’ rights to pursue their claims and defenses in arbitration.”
Vince McMahon’s legal team had long argued that the case should be handled through arbitration, citing an arbitration clause contained within a non-disclosure agreement Grant signed in 2022. Grant’s legal team had previously argued the agreement was signed under duress. It remains unclear what prompted Grant to agree to arbitration.
Janel Grant’s Sex Trafficking Lawsuit Was Filed Back In 2024
Janel Grant filed the lawsuit in January 2024, accusing Vince McMahon, WWE and former executive John Laurinaitis of sex trafficking and sexual abuse. Laurinaitis was later removed from the lawsuit, while the allegations also included claims regarding the knowledge of other WWE executives and alleged involvement by Brock Lesnar. McMahon has denied the allegations.
Following the filing of the lawsuit, McMahon resigned as TKO Executive Chairman and has not appeared on WWE programming since.
In recent months, Grant has become more active publicly and on social media, using her platform to support survivors of sexual assault. Earlier this month, she alleged that sexually explicit images of her were shared with WWE board members without her consent during a 2022 special investigation.
