Many of the fighters who were a part of Hype Fighting’s recent events are claiming they haven’t been paid.
MMA Fighting reports that some of those are UFC talent.
“MMA Fighting contacted 17 fighters who took part in the events, and all 17 confirmed they are yet to be paid. That list includes preliminary fighters, who competed in bare-knuckle matches, and main card stars, including several UFC stars. Staff and celebrities hired to promote the show weren’t paid either. Some of the unpaid purses from bare-knuckle matches range from just over $500 to four figures,” reports Guilherme Cruz.
According to Cruz, Hype told talent they they would be paid, things were just delayed and warned those who were complaining on social media they would not be paid if they didn’t take down their posts.
Cruz also claims that “some athletes were promised spots on future Hype events in Brazil in exchange for not publicly complaining about the situation”.
Hype Fighting has not publicly responded to the controversy.
