Headlocked Comics is teaming with AEW’s Brody King and comic book writer and artist Daniel Warren Johnson for a very special cause.
Michael Kingston, the writer and creator of the wrestling-themed comic book series Headlocked, has announced a new charity drive, comic.
“Last summer at SDCC, we made waves with Michel Mulipola’s “Abolish ICE” variant featuring Brody King in the iconic t-shirt he wore into Arena Mexico. We were able to raise 4,000 dollars to help Local Hearts Foundation feed families who were affected by the LA ICE raids. We’ve been watching the ICE raids in MN and we want to do something for all the families who’ve been affected there. So we recruited the incredible Daniel Warren Johnson to deliver a sick new variant cover featuring Brody King,” Headlocked has announced.
The limited-edition variant comic book covers are for the Headlocked Comics issue that includes Brody King’s “Tales from the Road” story titled “Hardcore” and all the proceeds will be going to MIRAC: Minnesota Immigrant Resource Action Committee to help families who’ve been affected by the ICE raids.
There will be three versions of the cover with Brody’s Tales from the Road story “Hardcore”:
Main cover: black and white virgin cover by Daniel Warren Johnson. We’ll also have a limited edition metal version of this cover that’s limited to 100 pieces.
Second design: bloody chain variant. Limited to 100 pieces. The resolution on these is purposefully low but the chain pops nicely on these!
The books are now available at their webstore, variants limited to 1 per person.
“We will have options to get Brody’s and/or my autograph on them as well (this will be the only time I ever charge for an auto but its all about maximizing what we can give to the charity). These are going to likely ship sometime in mid-March as we need to get them printed, the metal covers made, and I’ll have to connect with Brody for the autos. But we wanted to get them listed now so we can get the money in the hands of the people who need it as quickly as possible. I’d like to also add that anyone who orders additional items from the Headlocked webstore as part of their order (and we’ve got a TON of cool stuff listed)…I’ll be adding that to the total we donate. We’d really like to blow these comics out the door and show up big for the people of Minnesota!” wrote Kingston.
