Gabe Kidd made a surprise return to AEW on Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite, reuniting with Clark Connors and David Finlay to complete The Dogs ahead of AEW All In.
Gabe Kidd had been absent from AEW television since April, but returned following Jon Moxley‘s Continental Challenge Cup victory over Jay White. After the match, Connors and Finlay became involved in a brawl with Orange Cassidy and Kyle O’Reilly. Kidd then made his unexpected appearance and joined his Dogs teammates in the fight.
The situation brought out AEW World Trios Champions “Hangman” Adam Page and Brodido to even the numbers, with the confrontation setting the stage for an open challenge for the Trios Championship at All In.
Kidd’s return brings The Dogs back to full strength after several months apart. The former AEW World Trios Champion had not appeared for the promotion since Dynasty in April, where The Dogs lost the championships to The Conglomeration.
Gabe Kidd’s Injury And Visa Issues Stopped Him From Competing In AEW
Gabe Kidd suffered a shoulder injury during the match and subsequently encountered visa issues that prevented him from returning to AEW. In his absence, Connors and Finlay continued competing as a tag team. The pair challenged for the AEW World Tag Team Championship at Redemption in July but were unsuccessful.
Kidd eventually returned to in-ring competition for NJPW in July, defeating Shota Umino to capture the IWGP Global Championship at Road to G1 Climax. The match had originally been scheduled to take place at AEW Forbidden Door.
He then competed in this year’s G1 tournament, earning victories over Zack Sabre Jr., Ren Narita, Oskar, Aaron Wolf and Henare. With Kidd now back alongside Connors and Finlay, The Dogs could be positioned to challenge for the AEW World Trios Championship at All In, although their involvement in the open challenge has not yet been confirmed.
