A return to WWE could be on the horizon for a former star who has not been seen in the promotion for eight years.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the current plan is for former Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore to join WWE’s NXT brand in the near future. While no debut date was provided, Meltzer noted that the move is expected to happen soon.
“The current plan has Enzo Amore to be in NXT soon.”
The report comes after Amore was reportedly spotted at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando ahead of the May 19 episode of NXT. Other reports have also indicated that his independent wrestling schedule has become increasingly light in recent months.
The situation involving Amore’s former tag team partner, Big Bill, is less certain. While speculation has grown about the AEW star’s future amid reports that his contract is nearing expiration, Meltzer stated that nothing is currently official regarding a potential WWE return.
“Nothing on Big Bill, the former Big Cass, is official or even talked about heavily in the company, but outside the company, there is a lot of talk.”
Enzo Amore Was Released By WWE Following Sexual Assault Allegations
Enzo Amore was released by WWE in January 2018 following sexual assault allegations. The investigation was later closed by the Phoenix Police Department without any charges being filed.
Since leaving WWE, Amore has wrestled under the names nZo and Real1, making appearances for several promotions, including MLW, GCW, TNA Wrestling, and various independent companies.
Amore and Big Cass, now known as Big Bill, debuted on WWE’s main roster the night after WrestleMania 32 in 2016. The duo quickly became one of the company’s most popular acts before splitting the following year.
