A former WWE star has continued their recent criticism of Cody Rhodes, claiming that the former Undisputed WWE Champion would not stand a chance against them in a hypothetical mixed-martial-arts fight.
Former WWE Intercontinental Champion Val Venis made the comments in a post on X following Cody Rhodes’ loss to Sami Zayn at Night of Champions. While acknowledging Rhodes’ amateur wrestling background, Venis argued that it would not translate into success in an MMA contest.
“Donkey Cud Cody Rhodes has a couple of state championships from his high school days. That’s already a better wrestling pedigree than CM Punk had before trying MMA,” Venis wrote.
He then claimed Rhodes would be unable to compete with him in a real fight.
“But lock ‘Cud-Chew’ Cody in an MMA cage with The Big Valbowski, Val Venis, and the Cody fantasy ends the moment the door closes.”
Venis also questioned how effective Rhodes’ amateur wrestling credentials would be in mixed martial arts, adding:
“Wrestling trophies won’t prepare him for surviving a real fight.”
Alongside the post, Venis shared an AI-generated image depicting himself and Rhodes inside an MMA cage, complete with a fictional tale of the tape.
Val Venis Continues To Target Cody Rhodes On Social Media
The latest comments are part of a series of social media posts in which Val Venis has targeted Cody Rhodes in recent weeks. Following Night of Champions, Venis criticised Rhodes after his defeat to Sami Zayn and also claimed that Disco Inferno, even at his worst, would defeat the WWE star.
Rhodes has not publicly responded to any of Venis’ recent comments.
