LA Knight remains one of WWE’s most popular stars, but two former wrestling personalities have questioned whether the company has a clear direction for The Megastar.
Speaking on Behind The Turnbuckle Studios (quotes courtesy of wrestlezone.com), former WWE announcer Jonathan Coachman and co-host JD discussed LA Knight’s recent involvement in the Bloodline storyline and expressed concerns about his current booking. JD argued that Knight’s interactions with Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso have stood out because of what appears to be genuine frustration behind his performances.
“I feel like there’s real feelings there from LA Knight,” JD said. “You legitimately see a real-life frustration from LA Knight in everything he does and everything he says, which makes the television better because he genuinely feels what he says.”
While praising Knight’s work, JD admitted he struggles to see where the storyline is leading. He questioned the long-term value of potential matches involving Roman Reigns, Jacob Fatu or Jey Uso, suggesting none of those directions appear likely to elevate Knight’s position on the card.
JD even speculated that Knight could eventually consider leaving WWE once his current contract expires, arguing that he may be better served charting his own path rather than remaining tied to the Bloodline saga.
Jonathan Coachman Believes LA Knight Has Heat With WWE Office
Jonathan Coachman shared similar concerns and went a step further by suggesting LA Knight may not be viewed as highly internally as he is by fans. The former WWE broadcaster pointed to Knight’s recent taking the fall in a high-profile fatal four-way match and questioned why one of the company’s most popular performers was chosen for that role.
“For whatever reason, he’s got heat with the office, as we like to say,” Coachman claimed. “They know they need to use him. They need him on the mic, but they don’t want to have him get over. And this is the result of that.”
Coachman also suggested Knight’s age could be working against him in main-event opportunities, noting that the former United States Champion may not have many years left to climb back into title contention. JD concluded by arguing that Knight would be better utilised in championship-focused storylines rather than remaining on the periphery of the Bloodline angle.
