Hulk Hogan’s former accountant has been indicted on multiple wire fraud charges connected to an alleged embezzlement scheme involving nearly $900,000, although authorities have not officially confirmed Hogan was the victim in the case.
According to TMZ Sports, Melissia Gauthreaux of Accounting Resources and Management Services has been accused of stealing money from a “public figure” client between 2017 and 2021. TMZ reported that Hulk Hogan employed Gauthreaux during that time period and that part of her responsibilities included bookkeeping.
Federal prosecutors allege Gauthreaux used her business to embezzle funds from a client living in the Middle District of Florida.
“Melissia Gauthreaux has been charged with six counts of wire fraud,” TMZ reported. “The feds say she used her business, Accounting Resources and Management Services, to embezzle enormous amounts of money between 2017 and 2021.”
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida stated that Gauthreaux allegedly stole exactly $894,274.26. Prosecutors claim she had signatory authority over the client’s bank accounts and was able to withdraw money without the client’s knowledge or consent.
If convicted, Gauthreaux could face a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison for each of the six wire fraud charges. Federal authorities are also seeking forfeiture of the alleged stolen funds.
