PWInsider reports that ESPN and its streaming technology arm, BAMTech, have officially joined a class action lawsuit over WWE’s move to ESPN Unlimited after a federal judge granted their requests to intervene. The lawsuit, originally filed only against WWE, alleges that customers were misled about access to WWE premium live events through existing ESPN subscriptions when WrestlePalooza 2025 launched. Some television providers supported ESPN Unlimited at launch, while others did not, forcing certain customers to pay additional fees.
Although the judge found ESPN did not have an automatic right to intervene, the court granted permissive intervention because the complaint directly accuses ESPN of violating Connecticut law and conspiring with WWE. ESPN, BAMTech, and WWE are seeking to handle the dispute through arbitration rather than federal court.
WWE Hall of Famer Sgt. Slaughter is launching a new monthly podcast titled That’s An Order. The first episode will debut on YouTube on September 23, with the Golden Era Network producing the series. Slaughter, real name Robert Remus, will join co-host Marcus to answer fan questions, share stories from his wrestling career and revisit memorable moments, including his history as a G.I. Joe character. The announcement follows recent news that a live-action movie based on Sgt. Slaughter is also in development.
Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford reportedly have several years remaining on their AEW contracts despite recent speculation about their futures. According to Fightful Select, AEW sources said both wrestlers quietly re-signed with the company at some point, although the extensions were never publicly announced. The uncertainty stemmed from online reports suggesting several AEW contracts could expire in 2027, including Sabian and Ford. However, the latest report indicates neither is expected to leave AEW soon.
