WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff does not believe Vince McMahon can simply return to the position of influence he once held in the wrestling industry, despite recently settling the civil lawsuit brought by Janel Grant.
Speaking on 83 Weeks, Eric Bischoff argued that while the legal case may now be over, the damage to Vince McMahon’s public reputation has already been done.
“The damage to Vince’s reputation, irregardless of whether he wrote a check voluntarily through the process of arbitration, or whether he wrote a check because a judge said so, or jury, the damage has already been done.”
Bischoff dismissed the idea that the settlement automatically clears the way for McMahon to return to a prominent role in WWE or TKO. He also questioned suggestions that McMahon rejoining TKO’s board would be viewed positively by investors, arguing institutional shareholders would likely react negatively.
“I think institutional investors, the people that really matter, will s*** all over it. If I had to make that bet, I would bet against him being any part of the board.”
Bischoff also rejected the possibility of McMahon stepping into Nick Khan’s position, pointing to Khan’s extensive relationships throughout Hollywood.
“Nick Khan has the mightiest touch because of his relationships in Hollywood at every level you could conceivably want a relationship.”
The former WCW President added that he does not expect McMahon to surface in TNA, believing the promotion would not offer the scale or challenge that would motivate the former WWE Chairman.

Instead, Eric Bischoff believes Vince McMahon’s next move will be to tell his side of the story in a project over which he has complete creative control.
“I think Vince telling his story his way with 100% creative control and edit… If he’s not already working on it, that’ll be the first thing.”
Bischoff went even further, saying he believes such a project has already been in development for around two years and could emerge sooner than many expect.
Janel Grant filed her lawsuit against McMahon, WWE and former executive John Laurinaitis in January 2024, alleging sex trafficking and sexual abuse. McMahon denied the allegations throughout the case. Grant has since dropped the lawsuit, although she is still pursuing the allegations against McMahon in arbitration.
