A top WWE star could be left off the WrestleMania 42 card this weekend, according to Dave Meltzer.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer indicated that plans appear to have changed regarding a previously expected match, with the Asuka vs. Iyo Sky bout now likely being delayed rather than taking place at WrestleMania 42.
That situation centres around Sky, who had been heavily linked to a showdown with Asuka. However, Meltzer pointed to recent developments that suggest the match may instead be pushed back to a later date. One key indicator was Sky posting a public challenge to Asuka on social media before quietly deleting it days later, something Meltzer believes signals a shift behind the scenes.
“The last I heard was that it could happen, but it would probably be moved to Backlash,” he said, noting the match is no longer expected for WrestleMania, even if it remains in the pipeline.

Dave Meltzer also highlighted Iyo Sky’s clean loss to Jade Cargill on SmackDown, suggesting the finish would have been handled differently if she were scheduled for a major WrestleMania match.
“If she was going to have a big match at WrestleMania against Asuka, I don’t think they would do that,” he added.
While WWE continued to build tension between Sky and Asuka on the April 13 episode of Raw, no match was announced, further fuelling speculation that plans have changed.
Despite that, Meltzer noted that Sky has one of the strongest cases on the roster to be included on the card based on her performances over the past year, describing her as one of WWE’s top in-ring talents.
